Bank of Scotland 0%/1.5% fee as shown on the website

Just a word of warning to all looking at the above card. It states in the extended information (+ sign) on the website that you are unable to transfer balances from existing RBoS cards BUT you are able to transfer from the Halifax, amoungst others.

Unfortunately, I think that MSE have got their facts wrong on this one as I applied and recieved my card. I've just sat down to transfer the account balance over and found at the bottom of the screen when entering the card number in, that you ARE NOT able to transfer from a Halifax account.

So now I have to cancel this card and find another!

This is the first time that I have ever done this. Will it affect my credit score/chances of getting another card if I cancel this one?

Many thanks, Squiffy101

  • Edit: I have just phoned to cancel the card and was told that there must be an error on the website as they do take transfers from the Halifax....so my apologies MSE! You were right all along!

The Bank of Scotland card BT offer excludes "other Bank of Scotland products".

The Halifax card would appear to be such a Bank of Scotland product, being as they say (on the Halifax website and their credit card T&Cs) that "Halifax Credit Cards are issued by Bank of Scotland plc".

So I'd hold fire on your apologies until the BT is completed if I was you. :)

    RBOS is a different bank.

I know. ;) But the OP added the 'R' unnecessarily when the article they were referring to doesn't mention RBoS (or more accurately RBS)...just BoS. I couldn't be bothered picking them up on it!

It would obviously depend if they mean 'Bank of Scotland' as a brand which would exclude Halifax or the legal entity Bank of Scotland plc which obviously includes Halifax.

I was also waiting for someone to drop NatWest into this BOS [RBS] debate :rotfl:
