We've adopted a cat! :D

well we have recently been adopted by 'our' cat, and to be honest what every has put up above is correct, they have their own personalitys and what has worked for one doesnt always work for another,
such as being in one room when bringing home, our little girl had been in a small space for quite a few months when we brought her home, and she hated being locked up in one room, yes she did stay in one room to start of with, but if we closed the door she got very upset, so we just left the door open and let her choose when and how she checked out her house.
as to the water, same as above Lily has never had a problem with her water neing next to her food, in fact she seems to like it as she doesnt have to move far when eating to get a little drink, lazy little moo that she can be
also as to food, she will let you know what she likes, once again our little lady was 'treated' to some 60% meat pouches, which she turns her nose up to, yet the Aldi 'premium' cat food at £2.50 for 12 (ie cheap stuff) she cant get enough off and goes a little bonkers when she sees one as we can never seem to open it fast enough for herDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
Mine have always had their food and water next to each other - never heard that it should be otherwise.
Although one of mine used to like throwing bits of dry food into the water bowl then scooping it out with her paw. I suppose having them apart would have stopped that!0 -
no food and water next to each other? Barnes has one of those metal stands with holes for food bowl and then one for water bowl. the only thing is, is that if he does drop food in his water bowl, he wont drink from it. (yet he happily drinks from the bird bath in the garden).
and my cat 'supposedly' didn't like supermarket brands...........yet is happily eating Wiskas pouches, and Aldi treat sticks and dry food!0 -
haha the joys of being a cat slave, I so miss having one.

We're going to just put her food and water a little way apart and see what happens! Went shopping this evening - got all the 'basics', Pets at Home is the nearest and though it strikes me as a bit pricey and they don't seem to have a huge range, Chaos now has a gorgeous igloo bed (like she has and apparently loves at the Blue Cross) and a big scratching post to come home to on Thursday. Can't wait! Got her a few toys too, but it was all a bit hit and miss as we don't know what type of thing she likes yet. Am sure we'll find out soon enough! Got her Harrington's dry and a couple of Felix pouches - will start off buying small bags to see what she likes/won't touch and we'll go from there...0

Derek doesn't seem to have an issue with his food and water being next to each other either
We did the big pet at home shop too and agree it was a bit pricey but he looooves his scratching post, that and a catnip-filled duck on a string :-/
Funny animals these!0 -
She's home! We picked her up about 2.30pm, and have been playing with her since. She miaowed constantly the whole way home, but stopped as soon as the car stopped moving and was out of her carrier before OH had even opened the door at the bottom! Sniffing her surroundings straight away, and kept looking at the door. So we did what the Blue Cross told us not to and let her into our bedroom! Those are the only two rooms so far though, think it'll be another day or so before we introduce her to the rest of the flat. I was halfway through writing this and OH came through asking who wanted to be the first to use a nappy sack - she'd been in the litter tray! So we showered her in praise, probably wondered why we were so excited! She's so much more outgoing than we expected, very affectionate and loves being stroked. Happy cat and happy Mummy!0

It won't let me post pics, unless I'm being really thick! Maybe I've not posted enough?
