Removing hairspray buildup from upholstery

Hi, my chenille armchair has a hard patch on the back, from spraying my hair, and missing! I've tried warm soapy water, and then blotted the area with a towel, but to no avail.
Some websites suggest a "dry cleaning solvent", but I have no idea what to buy, or is there a home-spun way to get rid of this? Thankyou for any advice.
