Sort of feels like Anthony Boltons foray into China after doing so well with Special Situations.
Will hang fire...In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

I don't know how you can say that before the fund has even shown its face in public.
There is one massive difference between Woodford's and Bolton's ventures. Woodford is staying in the same territory where he's achieved his success in the past -- UK income stocks that he perceives as undervalued. Bolton turned his attention to China, a sector that he himself later admitted he little understood. On his own admission he had to rely on advice from others that later turned out to be unreliable.
So I'd have much more confidence in the prospects for Woodford's fund. I'm not totally naive, and I realise that it could all go pear-shaped but I have decided to take a stake in the new fund. I've not been taken in by the suggestion that an early investment will give some sort of advantage, but I've recently become disillusioned with my own ability to spot a sure-fire share (Quindell anybody?) and am leaning back towards a more passive buy-and-hold approach. OK, so the Woodford fund is an active fund but he doesn't jump around too much and his judgment has been much better than mine, so I think it's worth the annual HL fee."I don't mind if a chap talks rot. But I really must draw the line at utter rot." - PG Wodehouse0 -
I must admit that my feelings echo those of Brasso. DH and I are investing in it. I have held IP High Income since before Perpetual merged with Invesco and it has done very well for us. We are not expecting quick results but, god willing, are in for the long term.0

I have split my original Invesco High Inc pot between it and NW.I am one of the Dogs of the Index.0

Unfortunately, I can't do that 'til Monday.
But that does give me two days to buy a big house and a Lamborghini!0 -

Get a grip! I didn't say it was exactly the same??? However, you must surely agree that the whole "Big name manager opens new fund" bears some resemblence to Bolton. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0
