hi looking for help. i parked in the short term car park at royal free hospital which allows up to 20 minutes free of charge. i left the parking space before 20 minutes was up but stayed at the side of the car park waiting for my wife to come out. i then left the car park. 2 days later received a parking ticket in the post from parking eye.com for being in the car park for 36 minutes. the person i asked who was working in the car park told me i could park for free for upto 20 minutes which i did but did not realise it means actually being in the car park . can anyone advise me how to proceed from here , should i argue it out or what else. the ticket was for £100

Don't pay it and appeal through POPLA.
I got one of these last year but didn't appeal and ignored all letters/threats and now they seem to have dropped it. It took about 8 months but they seem to have left me alone now. It was a lot of stress but there was no way I was paying it. Legally, they cannot fine you.
Read the information on the board suggested above though as there is a lot more information there.
Good luck and don't just pay it no matter how much they threaten!!Emergency Fund: £6,000 / £8,000 (should be reached by Feb 16)
Deposit for Mortgage 2: £0 / £20,000 (needs to be reached by April 2020)
Weight lost since November 15: 0lbs / 4st 0lbs (ASAP!!)0 -
Just to clear up any confusion ... If this was in Scotland then just IGNORE. For England and Wales, follow the Stickies thread and submit a POPLA appeal. It used to be the case that you could ignore here as well, but not now.
However, don't get disheartened - you still will not have to pay anything, it's just a bit of a PITA to go through the correct channels0
