Not happy with Thomson's

I booked a package holiday to Portugal with Thomson's. A few weeks later I went back to the shop to ask for extra legroom seats, only to be told that the flight is with Norwegian Air and they cannot book extra legroom seats and in fact I can't actually book any seats until check in.
When I asked why was I not told at the time of booking that the flight was with another airline the assistant stated that it said that on my paperwork, which to be fair it did but surely most people would assume that a Thomson Gold holiday would be using Thomson flights. I wasn't aware that Thomson used any other airlines. Surely they should make a point of actually telling the customer which airline they would be flying with and explaining the restrictions of using that airline before and during the booking so that the customer could decide if they still wanted to book.

Are Thomson's legally liable to verbally tell customers if they use another airline?

customer could decide if they still wanted to book.

Question is. if told you were flying to Portugal with a Norwegian outfit. would you have thrown your toys out of the pram and cancelled your hols?

No because you are buying a package holiday from them not specifically a seat on a Thomson flight.
Its not uncommon for a tour operator to use an airline apart from their own to be fair but maybe they could have mentioned it when booking.

It's less than three hours to Portugal. Is not having guaranteed extra legroom such a big deal?

You get free wi-fi on some of the Norweigen planes which for me would be better than extra legroom!

Even if the flight had been with Thomson there might have been no extra legroom seats so OP could still be in the same position. Not everyone can have extra legroom seats just because they fancy a bit more space.

The extra legroom obviously isn't a priority either, if OP had needed it because they were tall surely they would have asked about it when booking. My OH is 6'4 and can cope with economy to Europe no problem.
