Switch supplier with debt?.
HI,
Im wondering if anyone can advisse me on this, i had a couple hundred pound debt with my gas/elec supplier, which ive been paying every month along with the bill. I called the supplier up to see whats still left and found out how much im paying and whats coming of the bill.
The bill rounds up like this,
Gas- £58 Pm
Elec- £54 Pm
and another £50 to clear the debt..
Is that amount im paying quite high for a 2 bed house family of 3?..dont have the central heating on all day, just an average user all round..
They said that i cant switch supplier untill i clear the debt, whihc i thought is wrong, if there charging high prices..
Surely i can still change supplier and pay my debt to them as normal?.. Or are they just trying to pull the wool over my eyes?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I checked around a few companies and they quoted me
Gas- £40
elec- £30
Can i take them up or do i have to stay with whom i am with?..
Cheers

You can't change supplier until you got rid of your debt.
Your bills are possible unless you don't have your heating on at all.
To get proper quotes for your bills you need to work out the actual number of units you use not the cost.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

If a utility provider has had a balance owing to them for more than 28 days they can block you switching supplier.0
