  • How did they chip?

Many Specsavers shops are actually franchised so it may be that your store's owner didn't want to play ball that day. Go back and speak to them again (in a quiet period), explain that you've been coming to the store for x amount of years. I presume you usually have good service from them? And maybe they'll be able to do something to help you. Hopefully a BOGOF offer was running at the time so your wife has a spare pair lying about while you sort the issue.

    Good luck

Sorry, but if the glass has chipped, how can it be Specsavers fault. Did she drop them or knock them.

She must have done something to them to cause the chip.....

Ask them how much it is to replace the lens, repairs can often be more expensive....
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

she didnt notice it till she put her other glasses on has the ones that are chipped are variofocals and she cant see without glasses the arm was loose so thats why she took them back £79 is the cost of repairing the lens surley a pair of glasses should last longer than two months and no she hasnt dropped them shes allways had her glasses from there and the apptitude of the manager means hes now lost six customers has it was a take it or leave it customer service is awfull but i surpose six customers wont be missed

I have just ordered some glasses from Specsavers.
I had a voucher for a free eye test.
I had the eye test and they said I needed a new pair. The sales girl guided me to the designer range first. I declined. Then to the mid range. I said what about the cheaper ones. ~She said if I got ones costing less that £65 I would not get a free spare pair. I said I could get two pairs of the £25 ones for £50, that's if I wanted two pairs, which I didn't. I found a pair on the £25 range that I liked. So I ordered them and she said I owed her £44.50. I asked why, she said for the glasses and the eye test. I said I gave her the voucher for the free test. So the bill was £25.
I thought to myself, there a lot of older people getting glasses there. Would they have just paid. I know my Father would not have questioned them. He would have just got the dearer ones and thought they were doing him a favour.
I told my daughter about it. She said that they did the same with her friend who also gave them a voucher.I bet they pretend that they'd forgotten it, hoping to get the money for the test.
    Keep on trucking!

specsavers have a 6 month no quibble no fuss guarantee. All stores have this, even though they are franchises. If you don't get what you expect/want/need then quote that. If not then ask for the store director. HTH

A chip out of a lens is hardly the suppliers problem, but a crack can be. A chip means an external force has caused the damage, so your claim would only fly if you received the lens in this condition.

Lenses can be ground incorrectly resulting in stress on the optical surfaces, the strain causing the crack or split.

They were replaced without question - but it has only happened twice in 25-odd pairs, both Varifocals.

What about a crack or split starting on the edge of the lens, curving round back to the edge?

I don't understand your comment. Did you mean "What is an ive? Did you mean I've?"?
