Parking Companies - A check on status

Some interesting information coming to light, parking companies about to be dissolved or are already. Also some other interesting stuff going through the company check website.

Please add others you find, I have gone through all the IPC Members and BPA Members listings, one thing is abundantly clear, both ATAs are doing very little to monitor these companies, some of them are dissolved, some are pending that.

But most worrying is the fact that a lot of these companies do not legally exist as companies, the BPA & IPC listings are either wrong, or there is a deliberate ploy to not identify themselves. and none of these companies have listings on their websites to say who they are.

These are so called companies in the AOS of both ATAs, and they all have access to our personal information from the dvla.

Did i read you right regarding your excellent list above, in that many of those companies did not have correct corporate details and address on their websites?

A complaint has been made for each of those companies breaching their KADOE agreements with the DVLA

Yep I don't think I saw one company number or registered address associated with a company on their websites, its a requirement to have them there so you know who you are dealing with.

Sorry but I've been banging on about this for ages. Several sole traders among the BPA membership flout company law by not disclosing the sole trader's real name, and yet people still get advised to appeal to PoPLA when they should really be advised to complain to Trading Standards. It's not as if anyone who blatantly flouts company law is about to file a court case over £100!

And that's exactly what got not so smart suspended from accessing the dvla database, backed up by confirmation from companies house that it was a criminal offence, it left the dvla with little choice but to suspend.

Glad to see you're keep the good work up!

    Two quick comments:

The absence of directors is often an indication that companies are about the fold. As far as Parkshield are concerned that would hardly be something they are unused to. If ever we were to award a "PPC most regularly Phoenix'ed" it would have to be Parkshield and its various iterations.

Keep in mind that its registered office is awfully close to that of the IPC (3, Red Cow Yard as opposed to the IPC's at 4, Red Cow Yard).

A company I have delved into to quite some degree. It is a sole trader/shoebox operated out of a private address in Bradford and seems to have an extremely limited range - if any at all. There are, from memory, just two threads (both some time ago) regarding tickets collected at Indian restaurants and then nothing. I find it very difficult to believe that such a small operation maintains BPA membership.

The owner seems to have invested far more into one of his other businesses - a takeaway review/ordering service - www.myhungrybelly.com

In the past I have taken up the issue of identification of members on the AOS list with Steve Clark and some improvement was made but it seems that things have slipped again. There doesn't ever seem to have been as great a commitment to ensuring the list is that up to date, in terms of a member's exact company title, as one might hope.

There were assurances that the BPS's compliance manager would help ensure that things were maintained but - on the basis of the foregoing - it seems that has gone by the wayside.

The point I repeatedly laboured was that if the BPA wished to have the privilege of being the gatekeepers to DVLA data then it was not unreasonable to expect a degree of quid pro quo as far as the public were concerned. Clearly identifying the precise legal entity that was a member was hardly an onerous duty given that, presumably, this was data they collected on at least an annual basis. Continuing membership for phoenixing companies was another issue and I have never been convinced that the same no longer occurs.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

I don't think any sole traders should have access to the dvla database, or be members of an AOS, they should have a legal identity and be forced to identify themselves. New legislation is coming to identify who actually owns companies

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4952291

These people have access to our details at the dvla , how it's considered proper that they are uniddentified, or non trading companies, even ones being in the process of being dissolved is beyond me.

It's about time the dvla is brought to task over the shady industry they created by allowing data to be bought by any sod with £2.50 to their name, whatever that is. Baszter is right over this complaints to trading standards and complaints to the right place at the dvla is order.

I haven't checked, but have any of these so called companies been to popla or the ipc appeals? I know euro have been there , but they are listed because their accounts are late, and Balfour as they are probably listed wrongly.
