I can ask a question without being subjected to "stock" claptrap about "efficiency" regurgitated by people that have just heard it from otjer people and that do not understand efficiency to such an extent that they use it regardless of its irrelevance?
In this case totally irrellevant (see my analogy) and disconnected to my question

I too was surprised at the charmless response from Jethro.
He asked a question and was give some reasons and ideas how to work it out. However as he has already made up his mind then I'm not sure why he asked the question and then was so disparaging about the answers. Just let him get on with it as he's not worth the effort.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

Since the immersion cylinder is out of use at the moment anyway, why not give it a try (removing element) and if it fails, cap off the pipes? Or is it old and in poor condition?
It isnt scrap yet because ive decided to heat it with gas instead of replacing the electric element
