Best credit card for taking overseas

Really?
However, it's not 0% if you meant introductory 0% interest rate. And I don't know any with 0% and no fees abroad, but some cards with no fees offer a small cashback (Aqua Reward, Capital One).
That said, if you "don't currently have a credit card" you can struggle to get any "best card" unless this 'currently' started not long time ago and/or you have a solid credit history.
Nationwide Select. Granted, you have to ba a NW main account customer (or willing to become one) but it's there
Not for cash though, Halifax Clarity still wins there. If possible, have both, NW is a Visa, Clarity is a MC! I also have a Nationwide FlexPlus current account, so I can get fee free cash advances from there too (a Visa option), but I try not to use my debit card abroad.
I've never been in a situation where I've had to use an Amex abroad (although apparently some restaurants in NYC only take Amex? I didn't come across it when I was there personally), but I have been caught in the visa/mc situation in a number of places, so my advice is to carry both!0 -
Bear in mind CCs often fail overseas, even if you tell your provider in advance. So take backups. Paying standard fees will still be alot cheaper than arranging emergency bank transfers, western union or whatever.
A good backup for foreign ATM withdrawals is Barclaycard. True the rate is loaded by 2.99%. But they DON'T charge any cash withdrawal fee and you get up to 56 days free of interest - ie they treat it rather like a purchase.
On my Barclaycard I have no problems withdrawing the equivalent of £500/day when overseas. My Santander ZERO (which has the same deal as Clarity but is no longer available to new applicants, I believe) is limited to £300.0 -

Cant believe that article is so misleadingly named so that clearly people can't find it when looking on the website!0
