Is it just the brilliant white paint that yellows or is it all whites? Need advise

I need both satin or eggshell for coving and other areas and gloss for the woodwork in white but with all this thing about paints yellowing I don't want to be left having to have it re-decorated.
I have got jasmine white silk for the ceiling and that is quite light anyway so I do need it to be a true white to contrast but brilliant white would most likely be too stark.
I hate what the new rules have done to paint now, I don't like the quick dry stuff either, there is just no quality about it.
If I got a white but not brilliant white would it still yellow?
I have already looked into the highly rated Johnstones aqua gloss but because I also need a satin finish I cant get hold of the new aqua satin they have just brought out and because it is a very brilliant white it will also be just too white
Is it just dulux that goes yellow or should I go for a different brand?

Hi I'm no expert, but in my experience it's just been gloss that yellows. For the last couple of years I've used pure brilliant white satin on woodwork and have found it stays fresh during that time.
Good luck with your decorating!Bossymoo

Just the gloss paints that have been affected !You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

All white gloss paints will tend to yellow nowadays because of restrictions on the chemical composition of the paint - doesn't matter what brand you use. Satin and eggshell finishes are going to remain white - same goes for emulsion. Bring back the old paint!!0

I used Dulux eggshell in my south facing porch which is quite bright and where I stood plant pots on it went yellow and that was only after a month or two. Far enough it was only when I placed plant pots but just shows it can go yellow too. I now use water based paint which isn't effected.Crinkmeister wrote: »All white gloss paints will tend to yellow nowadays because of restrictions on the chemical composition of the paint - doesn't matter what brand you use. I run a property maintenance company and we wont use white gloss at all now as it yellows so quick. We only use satinwood, which stays bright for years.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

I am contemplating ordering
BEDEC Aqua Advanced Gloss
BEDEC Aqua Advanced satin
BEDEC Aqua Advanced Primer Undercoat
I have already ordered a set of 4 Hamilton Perfection Pure Synthetic Brushes to help with application as it dries so quickly.
I just want to know how much to order as it goes from 1ltr to 2.5 ltrs, It does say:
Coverage - 13-15m2 per litre depending on method of application, surface texture and porosity
Its going on to previously painted gloss and satin areas as below
Gloss for - skirting, picture rail, door frame, radiator and maybe door
Satin for - Ceiling rose, coving, inner line coving and some stripes of the lincrusta panels
I cant work out how much I need for each of the above 3 tins, Can anyone give me some idea say like in how many doors it would cover for each of the 1 ltr and 2.5 ltr tins please?Thanx

I don't particularly want to use water based paint for outdoor applications and granted gloss isn't as bad outside as long as it gets plenty of light. I have started using Johnsons water based Aqua products and found that okay. I do use Zinsser bullseye 123 as well as its great for a base for any paint or us on its own. One thing I dont like about water based paints is it dries quickly and doesn't leave as good finish was gloss.0

Thanks
Yes I did look into the Johnsons aqua as I do like their paints but decided against that as I couldn't get hold of the new aqua satin they have recently bought out and although it sounds really good it apparently has an effect on the brushes because its a hybrid (not sure what that means in this case) so I didn't want to risk the finish getting spoiled because of that.
I don't like the new QD paints either but lets face it we are going to have to get used to it because eventually we probably wont have any other choiceThanx

Its just the amounts I need to order now I need help with as its going to end up a lot more expensive if I have to order 1 each of the 2.5 ltr tins rather than the 1 ltr tinsThanx

That's interesting! Did the yellowing go after you removed the pots?0
