I agree. There's tons of better stuff. Any sketch shows with Armstrong and Miller or Mitchell and Webb or Harry and Paul. Sitcoms like ..Outnumbered's the only one leaping out at me now. Any other suggestions. US progs like Arrested Development and 30Rock Seinfeld and Friends all had their moments too.

I don't know much about the teaching side of things Nenen. I'd say a good starting point would be the national autistic societies website.

    http://www.autism.org.uk

There's an absolute wealth of information on there, a lot to wade through sometimes. I can also recommend their helpline. They will be able to point you in the direction of any specific information you need. Its staffed by the most helpful people.

They also run workshops and seminars for both parents/carers and for people involved in teaching. I can't speak for the teaching ones but Ive attended 5 different ones aimed at parents and I can't tell you how much I learned from them. So useful for understanding different aspects of the condition and they are delivered in a way that makes it very easy to process the information.

From a personal point of view, as a parent, I'd say the parents are a good starting point. If the parents can give the teacher as much information as possible on the basics of the child, it will help a lot. What they're like at home, what things they like and don't like. Little things like that can make such a difference. For example, my son is so set on routine and once the school understood this they made sure that they catered for it with things like a visual timetable, making sure that they didn't deviate from it where possible. There's so many small things that make a huge difference but I'd be doing a savvy style post if I mentioned them all :o And of course, every child is different!

Happy to help with any more information if I can HTH

Many thanks Fairclaire :A - I have sent you a pm.

EMMAP - I'd echo Lawrie - I've had a couple of Fuji compacts from the refurb shop and they have been great - no problems and looked new. I don't have a bridge with a fixed lens but have one of the Fuji compact system cameras and it's often so much easier to carry round than my SLR.
