I'd be grateful for any links to articles on teaching children with Autism and/or Asperger's Savvy. In particular, if you, Fairclaire or anyone else with special knowledge/insight have any tips on teaching children with Autism/Asperger's to read it would help me and a little boy of 8 who is really struggling.

I don't know much about the teaching side of things Nenen. I'd say a good starting point would be the national autistic societies website.

    http://www.autism.org.uk

There's an absolute wealth of information on there, a lot to wade through sometimes. I can also recommend their helpline. They will be able to point you in the direction of any specific information you need. Its staffed by the most helpful people.

They also run workshops and seminars for both parents/carers and for people involved in teaching. I can't speak for the teaching ones but Ive attended 5 different ones aimed at parents and I can't tell you how much I learned from them. So useful for understanding different aspects of the condition and they are delivered in a way that makes it very easy to process the information.

From a personal point of view, as a parent, I'd say the parents are a good starting point. If the parents can give the teacher as much information as possible on the basics of the child, it will help a lot. What they're like at home, what things they like and don't like. Little things like that can make such a difference. For example, my son is so set on routine and once the school understood this they made sure that they catered for it with things like a visual timetable, making sure that they didn't deviate from it where possible. There's so many small things that make a huge difference but I'd be doing a savvy style post if I mentioned them all :o And of course, every child is different!

Happy to help with any more information if I can HTH

That sounds a great deal. :j

Could you possibly copy your order here please? I am rather confused (easily done :o) about what to order and which codes to use.

Essentially you are buying cards that are £1.50 each but 10 for £6. This is a discount of 60%, then a code gives you another 15% off, totalling 75% off. It was by trial and error that I worked out you need to buy 58 cards to get the jute bag free, and actually it costs less with the free jute bag than if you just bought 58 cards.

I really don't think this is going to help you but as you asked: -

Could anyone recommend a reasonably priced/easy to use bridge camera please? SLRs too bulky and expensive but want a little more than your standard digital camera....

I know we have a lot of excellent photographers on the thread so thought I'd ask :)

I would recommend a Fuji. I have had 3 and they have all been great.

I have the fuji HS30EXR - easy to use, you can stick it in auto and click away, or you can start playing with settings. It has a twisty zoom, rather than a motorised one. This means batteries last longer and you can use the zoom whilst using the HD Video camera (which does Slo-Mo too!).

The HS50 EXr is the more expensive newer version, not used it, but should be even better.

The X-S1 is another step up again, so should be even better.

I have bought mine from the FujiShop and bought Refurbished from them. You still get a guarantee, and mine have been as new. The HS30 EXR is £179.99 as a refurb, however if you google fujishop discount code, the first one on HUKD which has been expired still works, so gives a 10% discount.

Makes it a good deal. I will see if I can find some shots from it....
