The world is full of people throwing stones at us. Its what you do with them that counts. Build a wall or build a bridge.0 -

Possibly not the question you asked, but it definitely compared AvM 10 (edit 2 days ago, post 5888) days ago, which makes me think they do sell it. Although I tried to find it on M,.com to see what price it was and have a punt at whether it was still a useful comparison but I couldn't find it.0 -

Harley is getting big, and boistorous, not all the time, but occassionally. I was walking up the field with him and my DS2, and after about 10 minutes, of walking, Harley is off the lead, he starts running in circles, and going mental, starts running and jumping at us, and biting our arms, and just attacking for no reason. The more I tell him to stop and push him down, the more he thinks I am playing, and does it even harder, yesterday he bit my arm that bad got a puncture wound, and it was bleeding for ages.Sarahdol75 wrote: »:mad: how annoying :mad:
Yes we got a ball thrower, but if we throw it, he will fetch it then drop it and run off, then run back at you and jump and attack.
We have tried turning our backs and doing what you suggest, he thinks that is a game, and just jumps up and bites my bum, which really hurts, he has ripped my clothing doing this.
I guess it is just perseverance with him.
I'd reiterate the excellent advice you've already had about the importance of teaching your dog that you are the pack leader and that he must be subservient to you and your children. If you don't do this now then you risk him causing you and/or your children serious damage (especially as he has already torn your clothing and caused you to bleed profusely). I would be very concerned about keeping a dog who I could not stop from doing this, particularly with children.
It would be well worth you watching some of the Cesar Millan (dog whisperer) videos on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WInYxum2fU8
There is some controversy regarding Cesar's methods but they do show some ways of teaching your dog that you are the leader. These include: always feeding yourself and your family first and making your dog wait to be fed after you (I even feed our cat before our dog); teaching your dog to sit and wait until you tell him he can have his food; making your dog wait to be the last one to leave or enter the house; not letting your dog walk ahead of you.
I'd also highly recommend going to a dog training class.
Finally, I'm sure you know that Labradors are highly intelligent, strong dogs with plenty of stamina so they need a LOT (at least 2 hours) of exercise, training and other mental stimulation every day! If you are struggling with this then I'd certainly get professional help or even consider rehoming him with an experienced dog owner while he's still young.“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”
