Not sure yet. Have offered them to DS1, to invite friends round to watch the footie. He said he was already going round to another friend's and turned down my kind offer of taking fishfingers with him!
We would normally get together with a group of friends for things like the World Cup, but not sure what to do this weekend a KO is so late. Some of them have younger kids so might not want to stay out so late.
Also, Sunday is father's day and fish fingers are not really suitable gourmet food for my inlaws! Will decide in the next couple of days. Worst case scenario, I will have the party on a different day, at a more convenient kick off time, and in the meantime get DS1 to take some photos with the banners at his friend's on Sat. haven't done a CR party before, so not sure how strict they are about wanting the evidence straight away :)

sounds like a good plan...enjoy whatever you do...
CR will need you to send a photo of your guests and the poster in the picture...with possibly some of the other bits they send too....maybe eating a FF sandwich...that type of thing and they usually give you a few days to send that in via email

Make sure you send at least one photo as they will bar you from future things if you dont.....

Thanks for all the replies to my problem, you’ve all been so helpful to me when I rarely contribute to posts about others problems. I must admit that due to time issues I often skim over posts that are not shopping or deal related but sometimes I read them and don’t contribute because I’m not very good at offering comforting words :o Please be assured that this doesn’t mean I don’t care though, just that I’m unsure of what to say :o

I managed to persuade my boss today to allow me to work 9 - 2:30 with a half hour lunch and he eventually agreed to this. He asked me why I sent him an email about being stressed and when I tried to explain that I struggle with the constant interruptions he was dismissive and said that in any job there will be interruptions and I cannot expect to just be left alone to get on with my work and I need to just deal with it.

I still feel that I need to get out ASAP though because I really don’t trust him now. It’s no use me trying to follow grievance procedures because there are none. Nothing in that place is done as it should be and the boss cares for no one but himself, not even his own family judging by some of the things he’s said about them. He’s a nasty piece of work :( I'll keep looking even harder now for another job.

For those who were wondering my original job was Administrator but it’s now been changed to Personal Assistant. I know a PA is generally a better job than an administrator but when the person being assisted is this horrible man, believe me administrator is preferable :D

:doh:That was your first mistake. Never tell any boss that you can't deal with interruptions to your work as you're expected to deal with all interruptions whenever they occur and to multitask constantly.(:()

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I've learned this: sometimes it just isn't worth saying a thing, but instead keeping on struggling and trying your best, as I'm sorry the world just does not adapt to people who can't do as well. It should do, it should be a perfect world, but it isn't. And, unfortunately, no amount of trying to persuade others or giving them any explanation will work. People generally (including your boss) simply do not understand and never will do. It's sad, it'll be nice in theory if they ever were open-minded but I'm afraid the vast majority of the world are not.

As regards 'nothing being done as it should', this again is, in my experience, the way of the world. It's the way most people function - or, rather, fail completely to do anything correctly. Either you have to accept this, and change your views and lower your expectations as I myself over the years have done and have had to do, to the point where you (or rather I) realise that there's just never any point attempting to change things - there's just no point ever speaking up instead just get on quietly with your work - or I'm afraid you'll always be the one to come out of it worse and sadly the one left having to leave.

It's like neighbour problems - as one host (who did have some sort of legal qualification) of a national radio phone show said years ago, you can throw all you like at them, get the council out, get the police, throw injunctions but, at the end of the day, people will still never change and it's always the one not causing the problems that has to move. The only way to resolve a neighbour dispute is to move house. Sad, but that's the way it is.:(

Glad you got the hours a bit closer to how you wanted them - at least that's a start and gives you a bit of freedom to look elsewhere :)

I'd hate to be a PA, it always seemed to me to be about treating a full-grown adult as a child and doing things that they are perfectly capable of doing themselves (no disrespect meant, it's just how it looks to me from the outside), it must be completely different to administrator? :)
