best card for travelling abroad

Hi, im off to Brazil for the football world cup.
I'm looking to take about 1k GBP worth of brazilian reals, getting the fx at asda.
im obviously concerned about being pick pocketed / apartment being turned over in Rio so i would like to take a travel card.

any ideas on which card i should get?
i may just take exchange 500quid worth of money here and put the rest on card.

Halifax Clarity is the best, but not the only one.
