New claim. How do I show 2014/15 income

Hi.
I'm new to claiming tax benefits, and wonder if you would help? Im claiming for the first time as I am recently separated. My earrings are significantly lower this year than last tax year but the form only refers to 13/14 income. CAB and websites have suggested I can ask that they look at this years income but I don't know how to get them to do this?
Any help gratefully received

Yes, tax credits, sorry. My benefit would be zero though, I was made redundant last year which made my income much higher than now. Do they "award" £0, allowing me to call up? Or would they just turn down the claim.0
