Hi

We have our house sale agreed again and our considering this development. Just wondering if anyone lives there or has any experience. Considering the antrim construction end of site. Wonder also about the Turnkey options. Also area, traffic etc.

Thanks

  • Hi,
I've just seen your post and was also considering buying one of the Antrim Construction properties in Millreagh. I see you haven't had a response - I was wondering if you proceeded with the purchase? Have you spoken to any other homeowners there? If so, do you have any advice? Buying off a site plan, without the opportunity to grasp the exact size and layout of the building, is daunting!

    Thanks,

It's a while since I've looked at the houses in this development but depending on circumstances I'd be wary. If you already have or are looking to start a family be warned, there are no schools within walking distance nor are there any shops or anything really for that matter. The Carrowreagh Road can be susceptible to harsh winter weather and the Upper Newtownards Road is a nightmare in rush hour though there are traffic lights at the junction of the two roads making it easier to head towards the city.

That said when I viewed houses in the development, I preferred the Antrim Construction houses and the houses seemed nice inside though there was a lack of on street parking and there was very little privacy as many of the smaller houses are spitting distance from pavement to front door. It may not bother some but my preference would be for more front garden space.
  • I live in the development. Somebody didn't do their research. Brooklands primary and Dundonald High School are both within walking distance, I'd say within 10 minutes. Shops are what, 2mins drive?? You only travel about 200 yards along Carrowreagh Road before entering the site, its all flat too. I wouldn't argue that the hill might be hard to drive on in frosty weather, but there is no need to use it with the Upper N'ards road so close.

You are correct about on street parking, this is much the same as most other new developments. While you don't have a 'pavement' to park on, there is more than enough room for cars to park alongside the edges of gardens etc.

    Any feedback
  • Thank you Caz and Stuarty,

To be honest, the location is perfect for us – relatively close to everything we’d need as it’s walking distance to Dundonald cinema and Ballyhack, and on a red bus route for commuting to town. Plus, Newtownards is just over the carriageway, with the seaside towns of North Down close too.

We’ve now opted for an Antrim Construction Rylane (due to be completed next year). We have been impressed by Antrim Construction so far - They are very professional, helpful and provided detailed plans in order for us to add/move sockets, lights etc. There was also a decent selection of kitchen options and tiles etc. Though, I would recommend going to the kitchen & tile appointments with a good idea of what you want or else you might be a bit undecided!

It is still difficult trying to envisage the property and its layout off a plan (Despite measuring out the livingroom & master bedroom on an open floor). It’s also difficult to imagine exactly how the street will look once completed. We saw a show home in the summer, but it wasn’t a Rylane and I would have loved to have seen inside one of those prior to making our decision.

Stuarty, are you in the Dingles or ACC part? If you’re in an ACC home would you have any advice? Anything you would’ve done differently? Is there a maintenance charge for the common areas (grass & shrubs)?

Anyway, really looking forward to moving in next year.

    Thanks,

    A
