Car making squeaking noise

Hi
I have a 2004 Yaris and recently it has started making a squeaking noise. It happens when I am driving slowly or turning. Does anybody know what it might be? I think I am going to have to take it to a garage but just don't want to be ripped off but I have MOT next month and don't want it failed.

Can you identify where this squeak is coming from? Front/rear/wheels/engine/suspension etc.0

It seems to becoming from the rear driver's side. It doesn't happen every time I drive and mainly just turning corners.0

Could be anything from a dry suspension bush to a bit of grit caught in the brake disc. If it's a squeak rather then a grinding or rubbing noise, I would say it's unlikely to be anything serious enough to cause the car to fail an MoT. Perhaps you could take it to the MoT garage (assuming it's a trusted independent and not a chain like Kwik-Fit) and ask for an opinion?
If you take it to Kwik-Fit, your squeak is likely to become a £1000 imminent safety-related failure that only they can fix. Beware. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -

squeak... or rumble?
It is a squeaking noise although today I went round a tight corner and it was more screeching, seemed to be coming from one place at back on driver's side. I am hoping it is something which has become stuck or needs oiling somewhere.
I am hesitant about going to garages in case they come up with something they say needs fixing/replacing which actually does not. I will mention it to the garage I take it to next month and see what they say - it has been recommended by my old driving instructor so hopefully they will not come up with a non-existent costly fault.0 -

Not in my experience.
Went in for a free brake check the other week because I thought I'd got one binding and my ABS light is on. Bit lacking in opportunity to have half a day on the spanners with it myself, so I thought I'd see what they said.
Apparently my car doesn't have a standard diagnostic plug, so they can't read what's causing the ABS fault. But they can replace both CV ends to be safe, because that's probably what it is. (Car has a standard OBD2 plug, diagnostic read came back as lack of continuity to a wheel, so CV ends wouldn't have solved it).
My back two tyres are illegal and dangerous. (Hmmm, no they're approaching borderline, currently have 2mm, on the inner edges). They're a funny size, but we can do you a pair for £76 each + VATfor a mid range, no, I don't know what brand that was. (They're a common size, I can get Uniroyals for £40 each inc).
I need a whole new exhaust. (I need a tailpipe to midsection gasket, and the pipes in and out of the cat are rusty but not holed).
I need new discs and pads all round (I could do with discs and pads on the back, front discs are fine, front pads are 50%).Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

Are you sure it's from the back? Instinct for that says it's your alternator belt. Try starting the engine and working the steering straight away without going anywhere and see if it does it then.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
