Hello all, I am self employed and have been since April but have yet to earn anything as I am an artist and it's not very straightforward.
I claim working tax credits and housing benefit and have been advised to apply for an N.I. exeption certificate.
My question is, will it effect my other 2 payments? Thanks for any help in advance guys.
Who advised you to do this? Did they explain the consequences in terms of pension contributions?
As such, a NI exception certificate shouldn't have an impact on housing benefits or tax credits.
What's more concerning is that at some point WTC may decide to investigate your claim; if so, the fact you aren't making any money may be a problem with them if they decide you aren't working with a reasonable expectation of reward.
