Temporary building and contents insurance

Options
Our current buildings and content insurance has just expired but we are moving to the States mid-August and will be renting our house out to tenants whilst we're away for 2 years. Does anyone know how we can insure the house and contents for the next 2 months before we leave? Obviously once we rent it out we'll have landlords insurance.

Thanks.

There are one or two policies which technically monthly policies with an annual review and so there is no cancellation fees etc but if you cancel mid month you just lose the rest of that month.

Of cause you need to cross compare this to simply having a standard policy and cancelling it at the appropriate time.

A couple of people have report success of being with an insurer that does both home and landlords and converting the policy mid term but I suspect it is more of a goodwill gesture than standard practice

Thanks. I spoke with someone at Legal and General and they said they have no cancellation fee and they can also transfer a policy from home to landlords insurance so we've gone with them.
