Hi guys

Just nearly been stitched up by Warranty Direct.

Took out a policy on my new car just in case, But I highlighted I do not want to pay any expense towards the car repairs or there is no point in warranty at all.

Anyways all seemed to of gone well I paid my monthly amount of 34 quid last week and I got my paperwork through not only did they downgrade my policy but they also attached a 100 pound excess!

I called them telling them that I was promised under no circumstances I will pay for repairs, so they agree to go back to the call and listen.

Never called me back when promised so I called them to find out they actually used some terminology to try and wangle out of this, which had me fooled clearly and didn't need to change the policy but as I was in my 14 day cooling off (DSR thank you) got my refund and now looking for a better warranty with 0 excess.

Just a heads up they are using crafty techniques to get you to sign up.

Good luck with that a used car warranty without an excess?

Phone them up saying a bulb has gone.. Cost them more in paperwork than the bulb costs.

I hope your not expecting them to payout when something does break. Sorry thats not covered because its wear and tear.

Well the main issue I was going to sort is the Solonoid on the fuel cap motor has broken. But yes what I expect is when the promise something, to actually follow it through.

And how much is the solenoid on the fuel cap going to cost?
    £408 ?
What you expect and what you get may differ somewhat, like the poster above has pointed out and you may have chosen to ignore is that there is a high chance you have been ripped off :o

Well I expect the company to follow the letter of the law under the sales of goods act. Luckily I wised up after receiving my paperwork and got a refund and cancelled my policy under the DS regulations.

Just put some money aside in case of unexpected repairs.

What a brilliant idea. £40 a week should about do it, just in case the cam belt breaks unexpectedly.

    What do you suggest Einstien?
I rarely see a good report about these warranty policies.
Would they even cover a cambelt unexpectedly breaking? They usually have a clause about servicing and all observations being corrected.

Just the same as every one else trying to get your money (or vote) then, they tell you what you want to hear.

Those selling anything from cars to phones to political ideals to snake oil, yes and insurance, all do exactly the same, they want something from you and employ people* who are good at extracting it, it doesn't matter that you are being lied to, cajoled, eve borderline blackmailed, whatever label you want to put on it, twas ever thus.

*In the case of main political parties, we pay via our taxes for the sales and spin crews to sell their particular brand of junk to us, got to give them credit for being good at it too, people keep buying (voting) despite the product being totally unfit for use.

So you expected them to fork out for something that had happened before you took the policy out?

    There's a name for that.
