Lloyds TSB

Hiya,
I have filled for roughlt £700 worth of charges back from Lloyds TSB and have now progressed to the court stage.
I recieved two letters on Saturday, one from the bank saying to make an appointment (which i dont really want to do) and one from their solicitors saying they are going to defend the claim. I've heard they do this then soon after they send a settlement its just a case of doing everything to scare you. does anyone know if this is the case??
The letter from the bank also contained some info that made no sense, quote:
"Dear Miss Oliver,
BLA BLA BLA...
I can see that you have already issued a court claim for repayment of these fees and that our solicitors are dealing with it. If you are successful in your claim, this figure will be deducted from any award that may be made. Other than this, we will not be making any attempt to reclaim this money.
What are they on about??? they dont refer to any figure anywhere else in the letter, it just makes no sense.
Any ideas anyone??
