Hi all hope you've had a great day!

I am in such a weird frame of mind right now ... I have accepted the way forward (what with there being little choice of course) but getting around to doing it is another matter! I am sitting here ready to write my letters and totally lacking inspiration... despite how many templates I look at, the first few words are near impossible...

of course I told myself to get it done before dinner but hunger could be just an excuse and then there is the washing to get in. I know I can't go to bed again having not done it.

I have the main begging part of the letter sorted, and the end ... perhaps I've not accepted it yet as I thought? gosh it's hard... I know that with this my life is changing massively. For the better, I know, but I have lived like this so long.

It all feels so grown up do you think?

Sorry to waffle. I think it's going to be a late night.

Hi. I'm in exactly the same position , with the same feelings. I phaffed for the past two months but have today posted my paperwork to SC and have done my letters to creditors - I've just been to buy the stamps to post in the morning. It's really hard to admit that I've made such a mess of things and very scared not to have credit cards to fall back on. But I spent hours last night sorting out my budget and setting up 'pots' for different things. As dreadful as it is, I think it's got to be done now - I'm not sure what the alternative is.

Good luck with your letters and fingers crossed the creditors say yes to us both.

  • Bit of an odd one today, I got an email from Wonga saying a payment's due tomorrow and it'll be taken from my debit card.

It's the same amount that they've received from my DMP for the past couple of months and they've not sent anything like this before. I emailed back referencing my DMP details and saying that the payment comes from them, and any payment taken from my card will be recalled immediately. I also double checked with Llouds who confirmed any CPA with them has been cancelled from my account. I also checked the online statement with my DMP and all payments so far are up to date.

What do we reckon, email sent by mistake or more sinister matters afoot?
  • Hello everyone :)

I bit the bullet today and contacted the PDL companies I am going to default with tomorrow. I built myself up into a right state and when I talked to the lady at Quick Quid she couldn't have been nicer. I ended up crying cause she was being nice to me. How stupid :rotfl:

To be honest it was a lot easier than I expected and once that first one was out of the way the other conversation was a bit easier.

If only HSBC will be this nice to me as they have over half of my debt. From what I've read on here though I'm not expecting it. But who knows.

Well done for plucking up the courage, it is really hard when you've always been a good payer.

Sure you won't be as bad as me, The nicer they are, the more I cry, I can just about hold back the tears now until the end of the call and then I sob:rotfl:
And yes I do feel a burke but it's just one f those things, in fact I have a tear rolling down my face just thinking about it :o

Sounds, like it's some sort of automated system error, although I seem to recall Wonga are not above slightly dubious tactics. At least you know they are not going to be able to raid your card.

When you can see it coming, and you can't do anything about it it's really tough, and this is going to change your life, but hopefully in a positive way. I think this thread is one of the most positive influences.

There may be difficult times ahead, but once you have taken back control by making the decision to go to DMP, most folk seem to start feeling a bit more settled, and one day budgeting and saving will seem like a way of life rather than the worrying if the CC will go through at the checkout:eek:

    Morning everyone.

I have a question for someone in the know.

I have 7 debts, 6 of which are flexible credit facilities, 1 being a fixed term loan (with Tesco Bank).

My question is how is the loan balance usually handled in a DMP? as it's not as simple as simply freezing interest.
What I mean by this is, will it be the balance of the loan or do they usually use the settlement figure when dealing with what I owe them.

Sorry if that makes no sense lol.
Asking mainly as I have a CC with Tesco Bank and they have already agreed to accept my repayment proposal, heard nothing from their loan department yet though.

Trust me you don't need inspiration and you certainly don't need to beg, you just need a good template and some cut and paste for each creditor.

We all generally leave it too long before we get started but burying our heads in the sand only makes it worse and we end up owing more. I used to think maybe I can sell tons of stuff on ebay, maybe I can do loads of overtime, maybe I will win the lottery - I don't even do the lottery! :rotfl:

Is your light bulb firmly on or is it flickering? Ask yourself what alternative(s) do you have - if there is one and it's workable, don't take the DMP route. Anything specific you need to know, please ask, someone here will always help you, this thread is all about support.
