Hi Avon,
In simple terms, some things are just more important so you'll be fine, and if you fall we'll pick you up and dust you off

We've all been there (most of us more than once!) So we really do understand. This Rollercoaster is a good thing. It means you are accepting the situation and you are serious about sorting it out.
This is the scariest it gets, promise! Be kind to yourself, you've been through enough already. Try to find a way to relax and remember that in just a few weeks it'll all be set up and you'll be able to focus on looking after you and baby.

HSBC have my complaint! Just received the following text:
We have received your complaint and would like to talk it through with you. Please call 0845 6092527. We are open 8am-10pm 7 days a week. Please do not text a replyÇÇÇ
Now I'm dying to call them and find out what they have to say! Can one of you lovely people convince me otherwise please? It was quite a strongly worded letter listing all the reasons they had "mistreated" me over the life of the account, charged me during clear periods of hardship and exacerbated the situation and asking for £5k of charges over 13 years to be repaid. It also said they had 2 weeks to reply or I was off to the governing body.
Or it could be the other letter complaining about missold PPI on a loan from 2003/4.
Quite frankly they talked me into the loan and I should never have been able to get it.
Either way I don't think I should be calling them up to discuss it but I'm dying to know what they want/can offer. Is it worth calling, listening and then telling them to put it all in writing?
Arrrrggghhh! I don't know what to do! I want the best outcome for me but I want to know NOW! My debt with them is £4.9k. I'm not expecting to get very far with this (it's HSBC - let's face it they're crap!) but they're dangling this carrot in front of me that could potentially clear what I owe them and halve my overall debt.
What do you all think?

Kate I'm in exactly the same place as you but with BOS card. They received my strongly worded letter via email and acknowledged it. Then the phone calls started but I wouldn't pick up.
I emailed them again stating that I want everything in writing "in case I had to escalate matters", I just left it like that. They have 10 working days to write back.
I'm waiting for themLBM 2 June 20140 -

Never a truer word spoken...
I went through bankruptcy back in 2004 (ten years ago!!!) and now I'm in this situation now.
Looking back, at the time it seemed like a good idea but the advice was not exactly impartial (a workmate who had done it and then set about drinking every penny they got) and if I'd done this then I'd be a whole different person by nowlive and learn eh?

I caved and rang them...to tell them I wouldn't discuss the matter by phone
The woman on the phone was lovely and once again I was promised a note on my account that I would only be contacted in writing. She also said they have a team dedicated to reclaimed bank charges so it'd be passed to them for investigation.
Worth the two minute call. She confirmed the facts, confirmed I'm now repaying via DMP (all her talking, me yes-ing and no-ing) and wished me luck in sorting out my financial situation and sort of patted me on the back for taking control.
No further along really but at least I didn't get a flat s*d off so perhaps there are negotiations to be made. We'll see over the next few weeks. I'll keep you posted.

I'm tempted to ring BOS now. They haven't been too pleasant but perhaps my letter might persuade them to be a bit nicer?LBM 2 June 20140

Brilliant! What are you going to be spending all that spare cash on HH?Having a down day today. I keep getting an overwhelming feeling of panic about our finances. We are sending off the paperwork to stepchange on Monday so not even started yet.
I just needed to share with people who might understand.
Hi cmcavon, sorry to hear you are feeling so anxious, but really it will be alright and things will get better. Once you have control over your finances and aren't worrying any more that you don't have enough money to pay for essentials you will feel so much better. At the moment things are scary because you don't know what's going to happen. We are much better at dealing with things when we know the facts. It's only money and not really that important in the great scheme of things when you consider the events happening in the world in the last couple of weeks. You have your new baby to look forward to and by the time he or she is born this will all be a distant memory and you will look back and wonder why you were so worried.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421
