Thank you, and thank you everyone.
I'm not really 'debt free' until 25th though, when Stepchange pass on my payments,
Same difference! You've cracked it. We all will. Can't stop the DMP train. Well done! :beer:LBM October 2014  DMP with StepChange as of March 2015

Hi everybody
I have been in a DMP for 12 months, I entered into it when my wife lost her job and we were really struggling.
We are now in a better position and I am thinking of coming out it, not that good of position that I can pay the outstanding under payments.
But would like to get my life back to normal. Would any of my creditors consider removing the defaults from my credit file in order to improve my rating and restructure my debts. Or can they?0 -
Well done spot3 from me too! I too am looking forward to debt free life hopefully by the end of this year.
Sazzie how are you doing? Still here helping even though you have been through a tough time, I hope you are doing OK.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Hi,
I don't think creditors would remove defaults as they were marked accurately at the time to reflect your situation. Obviously if you can go back to paying the monthly contracted amounts then future markings would benefit your credit file, but they would presumably go back to charging you interest. Would saving the extra money and then offering full and finals be a better plan?

I've used this forum for support and guidance over the years but have never posted....just taken on board the advice.
I've been on what feels like a never ending journey with debt. My lightbulb moment occurred back in 2011 when I just couldn't manage my finances any longer. I started with a fee charging DMP company back in 2011 (worst decision ever made DON'T EVER USE ONE) but thanks to the advice on here, quickly cancelled the plan and moved to Stepchange, who were absolutely fantastic. When my confidence built up, I set up my own DMP using the NEDCAB advice and templates, and this worked even better for me, putting me in charge of my payments, and being able to overpay when I had a little spare cash.
It has been a difficult journey, there have been lots of tears, and days when I felt like giving up, often scraping the last pennies until payday, but I have learned so much about budgeting, saving and making my money go further. I've got 50 days to go until I'm debt free and I can't believe I'm almost at the end of my journey.
Please if you're starting out, don't be scared, and don't give up. It's a great feeling when you get to the end of your plan and know that you've achieved your goal of paying back what you owe, and being able to live, not just exist :j0 -

Hey GUO - Thanks, this thread helps me keep sane but I have to carefully restrict my computer time otherwise I would just not do anything else. Having some (hopefully short term) financial issues but working them out and so far everyone is playing nicely for me:o Just means that DFD is getting away from me again....but your is getting closer...yippee :j:jDebt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.
