That's it! Stepchange have taken my last DD payment, I have paid off all my debts. Now I can start saving, I'm almost as excited about watching a savings balance grow as watching my Stepchange balance go down.

I phoned them and they accepted on the phone! :D

They then wrote off the back of the call to say that as a temporary concession they would accept £x per month and would stop interest etc, but would still send arrears and default letters etc.

I'm still not defaulted though, but probably just a matter of time...

Thanks, I'll buck up the courage and ring them next week. I would like to know why they have rejected.

Thank you, and thank you everyone. :)

I'm not really 'debt free' until 25th though, when Stepchange pass on my payments, but it's nice to know I don't have to pay anymore. Well I say nice, but I don't remember being completely debt free since I went to university (21 years ago), so it mainly feels weird!

Feeling a little disheartened this week. I have been working like a demon at both jobs, keeping my spending diary and spending very little but don't seem to be getting anywhere  I probably am but can't see it!

So that's probably most of your adult life you've had significant debt....no wonder it feels weird. I cant recall who it was on here a few months ago said they felt a little deflated when they were finally debt free, but I guess its one of those things, when you've focussed for so long on what you'll do when you finally get to your target, you actually don't feel like doing any of those things.

Book yourself some sort of treat for the 25th when the payment finally goes out, or for the 1st when the next payment doesn't go? (not expensive obviously) and Celebrate :j:j, we are happy for you:beer:

Sorry you are feeling a bit down Zenshi, 2 jobs sounds like a tough gig, hopefully the debts are feeling a bit down too?? sorry very very bad joke  How far into the DMP are you, I found the 14 month marker very demoralising...to long to DFD, long enough in for it to start to hurt a bit, heading for the 50% target (Ok so its still a way off) has been more motivating, any milestones you can find?
