    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your advice here it is so lovely that there are people around wanting to help others :-)

I've posted a thread on the main board, but not yet had a reply. I was just wondering if anyone know what the process should be for asking a creditor To put default on your credit record? Are there any templates anywhere?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

    Hi,

I haven't seen any specfic templates for this, as it is down to the creditor to mark your credit file as they see fit. Even if we don't agree with it..!! On the upside most appear to default you quite early, well 5 of my cc's did.. There are some posts around on the forums with regards to BC's AP markers with template letters for that, that you could adapt if you wanted to.. just search through the top search bar...

Personally as long as I'm not paying much interest and my debt is going down I am not worried about my credit rating as I don't want any more anyway.. and I already have a mortgage so hope to just renew that with my current provider when it comes up. Obviously its different for people who want more credit, new mortgage/different providers in the future..

Thank you - ill have a search!

Our mortgage is with NRAM (was northern rock) and unfortunately they aren't doing new deals. We were hoping to get it on a fixed rate again but that doesn't look possible at the moment. But want to be able to at the earliest opportunity so want a default.

    Thank you x

    Hi January2015,

As you can imagine they are very busy at this time of year so it may take slightly longer than usual. Mine was about 10 days and that was in the Autumn. Once you receive you fill it in..! and then send it back to get your dmp under way..!

Hello fellow dmp'ers.. Today I received a lovely letter from Nastywest informing me that my arrangement had come to an end and they enclosed a copy of a letter they had sent to SC requesting an up to date I & E etc.... The letter received by me today was dated 8th January and stated if they hadn't heard from SC within 14 days they would.. take me to court/kidnap my cats/squeeze lemon in my eyes etc.. So I rang SC (held in a queue.. very busy..) to be told they hadn't had any letter from Nastywest but would respond asap...I then rang NW to inform them I was still poor, still with SC and they would respond but had, had no letter... lovely man apologised said it was all sorted now, new plan organised for another year and ignore letter etc etc.. So guys don't panic when you get this type of correspondence its all a lot of hot air really but worth the phone calls to make sure.. :D Puzz.. sorry for the block writing but for some reason it won't let me do paragraphs... x

  • Fist of all hi to everyone,

I have been reading this forum for a while and joined today to explain my situation and ask for a little advice.

    loans,
I am in approx 33k of debt with monthly payments £740 between three three companies for unsecured loans these are nram, bos and tesco. nram was a together motgage/loan taken out in 2005ish but is now just an unsecured loan, the other two were started in the last couple of years for debt consolidation purposes.

    personal,
I left the armed forces about six months ago in the hope i could find a better paid job and improve my life and clear my debt- this hasnt happened! I hold very good qualifications and i am confident in the future i will be able to get a job i hoped for, but at the moment im struggling to get a job with a salary anywhere near my military wage. all i have done recently is dwindle my(small amount) of savings maintaining my current monthly obligations. Iv just recently started a job that is very secure however; using one of the dmp calculators as a guide, after iv paid all my priority bills/food/transport/child support/insurance/phone excluding the £740 per month to my loans i am left with approx £65! to pay creditors.

    Home,
i live in a mortgaged flat which i owe £75600 on and is worth about £70-75k.

I am at my whits end with it all and after many months of sleepless nights, stressing and no overtime being available i need to sort this out once and for all. i do not want just stop paying these creditors as i have always paid my bills when required and have never missed a payment up until the last couple of months.

    DMP,
I have already started gathering info about my debts and writing letters ready to send to them asking for statements and explaining my situation in the hope i can come to an agreement and start on the road to being financially secure and debt free.

has anyone got any advice on this course of action or any experience dealing with these companys????

any help for a newbee would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi January2015

If you provided an email contact address then keep an eye on your emails too as my pack was sent to me via email and not physical post.

Like Puzz says can take up to a couple of weeks to come through...

    cheers

    Hi I84,

Welcome - you're in the right place!

I'm sure the more experienced people on here will be along shortly to help but in the meantime I would suggest going onto the Stepchange website and putting your info into the Debt Remedy tool.

It is online and confidential and will give you some useful suggestions on how to tackle the debt head on.

EDIT: Just seen your other thread and you appear to have decided on a self-managed DMP plan. There are a few people on here who are doing the same.

There is also a free online DMP tool that you can use to manage your own DMP - its called NED CAB money DMP and can be found at link below:

    Thanks very much squirrelnuts!

Yes i believe with the potential of an increase in my spare money in the future that this is one of the better options for myself. I have spoken to my citizens advice and they are getting a pack of information ready for me to help tackle this head on.

That looks like a very useful link thanks!
