I have just made all minimum payments owed and will go back to work and pay all my pay into paying this mess off but at least all cards are cut up no more debt to be added and we HAVE TO start watching our pennies.. I don't know if I'm relieved or petrified but doing nothing was killing our relationship.

Debtbusting, we love it ...fab news on PPI at last :TDebt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

It's been 5 months since I started my DMP and I still feel fantastic at seeing my bank account always in the black so you can imagine how this feels. And the thought that my debt will be below 10k by the end of this month...Well, did Santa pop in last night?

Hi Kate,
Ohhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhgreat to hear your PPI has arrived, get ready to go in low and aim of the kidneys
some people say spending is fun but debt busting is better!

I have read before that Pay Plan push the IVA route. I think I prefer the flexibility a DMP offers. You can arrange lower payments yourself, if you need any help give us a shout. Always someone knowledgeable around to advise. It's good to hear you have cut up the cards and won't be taking on more debt. I tried to cure our debt problems by taking on more debt. Unsurprisingly it didn't work. We were prize numpties:rotfl::rotfl:
We decided on a DMP mainly because of this flexibility but also because we see it as less serious (and by that I don't mean we don't have to pay it) and the first step in getting out of debt. We can always go for an IVA at a later date.DMP started Oct 14
Starting total £42,267.28

Hi all! About to join the DMP crew if you'll have me! Nervous much! Should be kicking it all off around January 1st.
One burning question, is, if I go for a DMP with lower payments so that I have a comfortable cash surplus to save each month, and I'm with Step change, is making F&F payments during the DMP then asking step change to stop payments to that creditor, paying less on the DMP then going again for another F&F, and so on, a good way to go or will Stepchange and other lenders who are being paid get annoyed?
I've set a realistic SOA but wonder if beefing it up and having lower payments to creditors will be better for compliance / defaulting etc (eg making sure barclaycard get less than 1% so they freeze interest)
Thanks in advance. Will introduce myself properly and give an overview. Will need the support. You are all great!!LBM October 2014  DMP with StepChange as of March 2015

Must admit I have sinned...have spent some on myself and the kidsSpent £66 on replacing jeans and pyjamas DD2 and DS2 have outgrown and I have replaced the smart black shoes and my black work trousers that I have worn out. AND as I've been wearing a horrible old puffa jacket of DS1s since my LBM and weight loss I splurged £20 of that on a new winter coat that actually fits. And I don't even feel bad! Another new sensation for me - I always feel dreadful for spending normally, perhaps it's because I wasn't really splurging I was very controlled and bought things we needed and planned it in advance.
Applying for another job tomorrow too. It's a bit of a reach and the competition will be tough but I stand zero chance if I don't even try and you never know
Tomorrow is F&F day. Going on advice here I'm going to offer a cheeky 30/40% and see what comes back - I have nothing to lose and (as above) you never know! Feeling quite impatient so very tempted to call but will stick to the rules and keep it all in writing.
Absolutely exhausted now, DH treated us to a curry last night so I'm having the leftovers then hitting the hay. Just as soon as I can dig my way out from under the masses of cuddles I'm getting from the kids

Kate - great news on the PPI
Glad you gave yourself and the kids a little treat - you deserve it! It is so lovely to see their faces when you buy them something nice. We took the kids to the Sooty Show on Saturday and I had saved enough to treat them to a toy each - they were over the moon!! Thinks like that make the DMP soooo worthwhile
Fingers crossed for the job application - knock em bandy!!
Good luck with the F&Fs - keep us posted.

Super and exiting news Kate...sounds like even the kids are buzzing, all the good vibes rubbing off - fantastic:)
Looking forward to hearing how F&F go...will be interesting to see 'how low they will go'
A bit cheesed off- a client paid OH invoice (wages) into our old bank account (now part of DMP), despite me typing in bold red - note new bank account! I did try a cheeky transfer out but no go, overdraft has been cancelled.... so lloyds o/draft now reduced by £350!0 -
Good news on the PPI Kate, and nice to spend some money on yourself and the family (and not on credit).
Got home tonight to a couple of calls from creditors on the answerphone asking me to call them. I'm wondering if there has been a problem with my payments to them at the end of Sept. Have to call them tomorrow now and see what the little darlings want:DDMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421
