PPI is on its way!!! :j :j :j

Payment was sent at 12.05pm today :D Technically HSBC haven't called back yet, they called about something else but I wouldn't let it drop so the (actually really nice) lady on the phone read out all the details on her screen.

So I'll be celebrating my 1st LBM Anniversary with nearly £3,000 in the bank ready for F&Fs and a full emergency fund, can't think of a better way to celebrate :D

The moral of the story? Check what details you give VERY carefully! And yes, I'm a bit of a Muppet sometimes :(

Actually today has turned out pretty well, I escaped from work at 4.20pm and don't need to work tonight so I'll be having a wonderful hour sitting in a car park while DS2 is at Fight Club (our special name for his martial arts class) with a book in peace. Bliss!

  • Excellent news BDFSH :T real life starts NOW!

    More excellent news Bmma :T

And you're welcome Moneypit. I think most people have a bit of a "high" for the first few weeks in reaction to being in control (I know I did) Now you're over the peak of the mountain have a rest and stroll down the other side with us. Keep in mind this is a marathon not a sprint.

We'll celebrate every milestone together and if you trip we'll pick you up. I received so much support from this thread in my early days and still do and now I like to think I am paying it forward by offering that same support to others. In a few weeks you'll be as excited as the rest of us when someone gets a milestone. I still have a teeny tiny pang of jealousy (I want it too!) but we'll all get there.

  • Congratulations Kate.

I' m with you guys bmm and MB in being very upfront with anyone ho asks. Initially made usual excuses to people offering services or credit, now dead straight. Had a lovely conversation with woman from Barclay's when I explained why didn't want overdraft. Most people's response is we've been there, in debt that is and wishing you luck.

  • Hello Everyone :)

Quick update from me. Haven't been on in a while so have lots of catching up to do.

First payment went to SC on the 1 September and went to creditors on 25th. No major problems with creditors so far :T

Barclaycard said that they didn't get the letter from SC but when I nicely told them SC send all their post signed for they suddenly found it :D and have agreed my repayments. They have kindly told me that they are only going to charge me 6.9 % interest  I am going to leave it to after Christmas to fight this. At least then I can show them I am committed to paying the money back.

Haven't heard a peep from HSBC. Not sure what to think about this. They have taken my payment though ;)

Feel so much better now :D my DMP is the best thing I have done. Wish I had done it months ago. It's scary taking the plunge but definitely worth it.

Phoned Creation today as I noticed that on two of the accounts/letters payment was due yesterday while the 3rd account/letter (same date) says it's not due until 31st October.

I pointed out that Stepchange set it all up last month and weren't even taking my first payment until today, he said he would log into his Stepchange portal to check (which I thought was weird), so I told him I decided to run my DMP myself and informed Stepchange Monday, just wanted to check the payment dates.

Even though I explained Stepchange only set it up last month, as I told Creation I was managing the DMP myself, I have to send them I all my income and outgoings.

I thought I'd escape this for a few months having just done it with Stepchange but no, they have put all 3 accounts on hold for 2 weeks until they get my details.

On the plus side he did say on all 3 accounts there was always the offer of a 30% discount for final settlement (he said this was noted on all 3) so if I ever get some money, that's a nice £6k off what I owe them.
The way things are going, soon we are all going to be victims of something or other.

    Who will we blame then?
  • Kate - FANTASTIC news!!!!! :j :j

    So chuffed for you :D

Hope you enjoyed a nice relaxing hour with your book. Looking forward to slowly seeing our DMP balance coming down but it sure feels good paying for everything each month with actual money rather than credit.

Also managed to save £50 this month to put into the Christmas pot :)

    Take care,

I luuurve the Barclaycard in every single way,
The way the lie and cheat us all despite us wanting to pay,
If I just had a single wish, this is what my wish would do,
I'd make a wish for Barclaycard to be a lot less poo

    THE END

Not sure if my feelings about Barclaycard have been clear enough in the past ;)

    Good morrow fine Growurown,

Ok, the secret is out! I am in fact William Shakespeare... MB is a secret moniker, it's an upside down W and B for Bill ;)

    More recently I've been working on a couple of new plays, here are a few quotes;

Alas, poor Barclaycard! I knew them Growurown... and

Is this a credit card bill which I see before me? It's envelope toward my hand? Come let me shred thee...

I was considering publishing them in a hope to capture my glory days in an effort to repay mine debts.

    Farewell and days greetings,

    MB of S x
