Firstly, your comments about low IQs is unnecessary and cruel. The staff at the DWP have rules to follow, and that is what they are doing, following the rules. You may think that it is pointless, but what you think doesn't really matter. What matters is that the couple receive income related benefits, and to continue to receive them, they need to abide by certain conditions - and attending a WFI is one of those conditions.

Secondly, if the husband's bowel condition is so serious that it is likely to cause death in the next six month, they may be able to have PIP fast tracked (you could with DLA, under the Special Rules, but I am not certain about PIP - worth checking though).

I attend WFIs at the JC+, even though I care for my severely disabled son and am not currently looking for work. However, I respect the fact that it is a condition of receiving my benefits (for which I am very grateful). It's only a short time out of my life, but it means that I can continue to care for my son, knowing that each month I will receive my benefits and be able to pay my bills. We all have to do things that we don't want to at times, or don't understand why we should, but for the sake of less than an hour every now and then, surely it's worth accepting that it is a condition of receiving the benefits?

If you still disagree (and like Dandelionclock says, what business is it of yours?), then take it up with your MP, instead of insulting DWP staff who are only doing their job.

Give them the contact details of the local CAB, then you wont be getting blamed for anything. They are miles better off there instead of getting possible wrong info from other sources.

Yes, there are special rules under PIP - if your death is to be reasonably expected in 6 months, you can be fast tracked.

Is it really such a horrendous experience to have to give a couple of hours of your time every 6 months? There is no pressure, all it is a chat, which could very well happen to be very helpful. Maybe, just maybe, it could result in them being informed of grants, or at least organisation that could help with setting up or improving her business.

I don't understand why people become so defensive and aggressive at the prospect of discussing their future plans, that is unless they really never intend on going back to work.

Yes, for example in the WFI your 'client' might want to discuss the NEA scheme, which would provide funding in the event that someone on ESA IR benefit wanted to start a business.

Thank you for the prompt response, one more question how often does she have to attend WFI? It seems so illogical to even ask her to come in, if she were able to work she would be it's the fact she is looking after a baby she can't work, do they have people with [STRIKE]double digit IQs[/STRIKE] wilful ignorance working there?.

A few probably, half the population fit that description. Virtually everyone who goes in as a "client" too, I'd imagine.

I don't know hence I am going to speak to someone. The threat of sanctions on benefits seems a little iffy, but if someone can correct I will stand corrected. It should a gently worded letter, when its the first letter and no wrong has been done.

May I ask, do you find it even mildly hypocritical that you criticize the mental capacity of others when your written English is so bad?

I am using a touchscreen keyboard, it is tedious therefore I am, usually not proofreading or correcting grammatical and/or spelling mistakes. I did not know there were Grammar Nazis on this forum. For your information I speak five languages fluently. May I ask how your Punjabi is? No wonder with an Anglocentric attitude some countries in the United Kingdom would like to be fully Independent. Forget about Punjabi how is your Gaelic or your Celtic? English is only the fourth widely spoken language in the world. Behind Hindi/Urdu by tens of millions (in terms of speakers) and by hundreds of millions behind Mandarin many of whom do not speak English. Intellectual abilities are not measured by how well one speaks/writes in a particular language so your post carries no weight.

RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
