Barclaycard overpayment letter

in Credit cards
Hi,
I've received a letter from BC, politely informing me that after a review of my acct they have found that it is in credit by some £770, and wish to repay me. I called them on the number given & they said it related to a Barclaycard that I had back in the 90's, the last transaction being in 1998! I did have a Barclaycard acct then.
Being suspicious I contacted BC via a number on their website and they told me that this letter is not dodgy and that I am owed the money. Whoopee!
I am however suspicious! Are BC trying to avoid some interest payments to me, is this a cunning ruse to avoid paying me enlarged compensation because my BC acct from the 90's was sold with some PPI? Can't help the feeling that there is more to this!
Any views?
Cheers

If it was the balance, they don't owe you any interest.
You can possibly reclaim the PPI, but I don't think that without claiming they voluntarily paid it to you for that old account.0 -

Any chance you could post of an image of this letter about this long forgotten, £770 credit that has sat on your Barclaycard account for over 15 years without so much as a statement, let alone the 180+ I would have normally expected in that time?
