Car Insurance whilst in IVA

Hi, not sure if posting in right place so feel free to move.
I am about to enter the 2nd year of an IVA and thought things were just about under control..... famous last words.

I have now received my car insurance renewal and I am being asked for the whole premium upfront rather than monthly instalments due to credit check. My insurance is with Aviva.

Wonder if anybody who has been through the IVA process was able to pay monthly for car insurance, if so who was the insurance provider?

Any replies would be much appreciated as I just don't have a few hundred pounds lying around to pay the whole premium upfront.

Thanks in advance

I've been in an IVA for 4 years and change car insurers every renewal. Not once have I been declined making monthly payments. There may be a handful that don't like it so move your business elsewhere.

Shop around one of the comparison sites, I guarantee you'll get cheaper insurance anyway.

Echo the above, do a comparison site search, there will be numerous quotes come up that will allow you to pay monthly, I never had a problem when I was in my IVA, just because your present insurer has imposed these conditions, does not mean they all will.

  • Thank you so much for the replies, much appreciated. Have now renewed with M&S who were happy for me to pay monthly and quoted £250 less than my previous provider.
Funnily enough, my current provider phoned just as I was looking at comparison sites (co-incidence?), they were able to knock the premium down a little (still nowhere near enough) but still insisted I would have to pay the whole annual premium upfront. Oh well, their loss.

    Thank you again
