Although I have known the MSE forums for a long time, and know how lovely most of the people are (especially in the comp forum), I also know how intimidating it can feel when you first start posting in a new forum, and you hope that the "regulars" will be nice to you.

Although I know that the advice is meant constructively, I was still a little surprised to see various new members here being told by various people that

without one in the title your post will get removed by the board guides

because IMNVHO that makes the BGs sound really mean! :rotfl:

My understanding - and please correct me if I'm wrong - is that the competition forum system is set up to automatically remove expired competitions from the list shortly after midnight, and it will also automatically remove any threads that don't show an end date at the start of the thread title.

Anyway, I could be wrong - I often am!
