trip for giving up the fags?

Bear with me on this one.

Me & the Oh are strongly considering giving up smoking.

I want us to go somewhere remote, where no one smokes ( possible!?) or where we are left alone to get over it :p

m mmieidate thought was the maldives. all on out own out in a room over the water, with no one smoking near us adn generally able to just "get over it"

We'll be having a dose of hypnotherapy before we go hopefully the day before, then a night flight then arriving somewhere appropriate.

Any ideas? Doesnt have to be dirt cheap, but has to fit the brief.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

How about California? It has had non-smoking laws for a lot longer than we have so might be good.

You could fly to LA or SF, hire a car and rent a place somewhere remote, maybe the Pacific Coast or up in the mountains.

Durness and local area in the North of Scotland- plenty remote places there, the scenery is gorgeous too!

or how about Skye- this place here- the nearest shop and pub is 2 miles away...

California is smoke free the same way as the rest of us are now smoke free- you're still welcome to smoke outside.

Best of luck- we did it with MRT- had patches- you have to switch off in your head, and when you come home after your holiday tell people you are non smokers.

no- we are hoping to delay this by giving up

ONe thought we had was a thai spa - anyone been to any?

We thought New Year might be a good time- annual leave entitlement etc.

Re: Cali - is there smoking laws same as here then? Would people be huddled outside restruaunts smoking? Or is that not legal?

    Norway?

Same smoking ban as in the UK. If you do get tempted, the £7 cost of a pack of fags may make you think twice before buying them!

Good luck in your attempt to give up. :j

Many people (including me) find the process of flying stressful. After all the hassle of getting through the airport, and then sitting on a 'plane for hours, you will be tired, uncomfortable, and gasping for a fag. Perhaps not the best way to begin.

California would probably be a better choice than somewhere like Thailand, where smoking is still quite widespread and socially acceptable. But if you have a reasonable budget I would suggest somewhere much closer, so that the journey would not be a pain. Somewhere idyllic, like Scotland, or maybe Cornwall?

Anyway, I wish all the very best in this.
  • and don't forget you will surely be tempted to stock up on cheap cigarettes on the way home if you go somewhere on a plane, bar Norway it seems though!

I know of someone who started smoking again, because of the 'cheap deals' on ciggies and not being able to fight it...... guess he thought that he could give up when they ran out......
