Really worried unpaid Uni fees will affect credit score??

I attended a university for a few weeks in the first term but had to drop out for reasons beyond my control

I didn't have a student loan and was paying monthly to cope with the costs (still a lot of money per month).

Now however the uni say I owe them for the first term, which is a lot of money.

They already have one of my payments which they will keep, but if I just don't pay the remaining amount will that affect my credit score?

Their rules say if you attend even for a few weeks and quit, you have to pay for the first term at least. Thanks

It is very unlikely that they ever had your permission to record the debt on your credit file, as the uni fees were not on a credit account, so they won't be able to record anything without taking court action.

However they could take court action against you, and presuming they were successful in obtaining a CCJ against you (and you could not pay the full amount within a month) then that would be recorded on your credit file for 6years and have a huge impact on your ability to get credit.

You don't elaborate on these "reasons", but is there any way you could make a claim for these costs against anyone or anything?
