OS Daily Friday 6 June 2014
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning all,

Judi - Sending (((hugs))). Life can be so cruel. Im so sorry
Rachel - congratulations on your new baby. Always remember that spending time with your baby is more important than housework. I have to keep repeating this to my sister in law as she stresses about appearances too much.

Probably going to have chicken fajitas for tea tonight if we've got some soured cream. if not I'm sure I can find something for it.
Off to work today. my boss volunteered me to go and invigilate an exam at a students exam...not very amused but a least it get me ff site for a few hours.

Weather doesn't look too bad so hopefully can get some washing done tonight

Hope you all have a fabulous day

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, clear blue sky, no wind – looks like it’s going to be a day of sunshine. After a grey start yesterday also turned out to be a good day, was rather breezy but sun did come out and stayed out for most of the day – it was excellent line drying conditions – got several loads of washing dry on the line, just had to double peg everything so it didn’t end up in a neighbours garden.

DH up and getting ready for work early – but not stupid early.

Dinner last night was roast chicken, new potatoes, carrots, peas, broad beans, green beans, LO Yorkshires and gravy – was delicious. Tonight will be an easy one – something and chips for the menfolk, probably mushroom omelette and salad for me.

Yesterday was productive, got the housework done, washing, drying and ironing, there’s enough in the basket for 1 more load I think, so I’ll get that going shortly. I got some other bits sorted that needed to be, still have some on the list to do today. Shortly I’ll be going food shopping, I’ll need to go to the bank too at some point. I would like to get some cooking/baking done, I’ll see how I get on today if not I can do that tomorrow.

Our plans for the weekend have now changed, DH is going to be late home tonight as the workload for today has gone mad, he’s needed to do a job at some point today but they’re not sure at what time – so it’s likely to be lunchtime/afternoon and then it’s a good distance away in Friday afternoon traffic – I’ll expect him home when I see him! So we’re not going away now as we need to get to the site tonight as DH has a meeting tomorrow and will have to leave too early to take us to the site and then carry on to his meeting, I am disappointed as was looking forward to it, but it can’t be helped and generally when we tell his work that we want to get away on a Friday night they are able to accommodate our wishes. If DH hadn’t got a meeting tomorrow – it wouldn’t be a problem, we would just get up and go good time in the morning.

Have a good Friday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Bright and beautiful day here I have washed a load of towels and will get them on the line before work this morning.

Meatballs for dinner who ever gets in first will start them off. I will expect DD at some point today.

I have the weekend off which I am really looking forward to, and I am going out with the girls Saturday night.

    Have good days all xx

Judi when my dad was really bad with dementia I found it best to go along with everything he was saying (I shall never forget the troop of baboons all over the garden ! and me "phoning" London zoo to come and collect them ) it put him much more at ease if you went along, big hugs to you I know what you are going through xx

Good Morning chums ,beautiful day here in Kent this morning. The sun is shining and the clouds are high and I can see the River Medway gleaming through the trees in the distance (always a good sign :):))
Today my DGS Ben does his English lit 'A' level exam and I have everything crossed for him.I am hoping all will be well as he suffers dreadfully with hay-fever and this time of the year isn't a good one.Still he's a bright lad so what will be will be. I stress more than he does I think :):):)
This afternoon its history club and we are learning about James Barry the woman who dressed as a man and became a Dr in the british army, should be interesting afternoon.
Right time for breakfast and school run
    Cheers chums JackieO xxx

Judi - Big hugs and much love to you. You were probably overdue a long cry.
    Congrats Rachel.

The weather is just there at the moment but I think it is to brighten up so will hang the towels on the line.

The scaffolding at the back of the house is coming down today so I can see the lovely new roof - probably the only time I will look at it!! Builders doing another job for a couple of weeks and then will be back to do the bathroom hopefully. Also need to co-ordinate the gas fitter to disconnect the oven and then an electrician to put in an electric fan oven. I have tried to get on with the gas oven but I admit defeat!

I think DD and DS2 are going out tonight (not together) so I will look forward to having an evening on my own.

On the subject of DS2 - he had confirmation of a job yesterday! Starts 1st July in the Netherlands so we are all happy here.

Hope you all have a good Friday, love and hugs to those feeling down or poorly. Take care. XX

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]I feel drained this morning, I didn't sleep very well and when I did manage to drop off I must've been on an awkward angle because my right side is aching. I feel like the muscles from my ankle to just above my waist are too short :D I've taken brufen tablets and am armed with brufen gel.

Not much happening today, just the usual housework. Might take a book into the garden later, as long as the rain holds off.

Morning all, JUDI love I can't add anything except hugs and sympathy to what has been given yesterday but you have those in quantity love, stay strong and know we're always here for you in the bad times as well as the good!

What a lovely day we had with the Zebra child yesterday. He was sitting propped by an inflatable support in his high chair when we arrived. It took him a few minutes of intense scrutiny of the type that only an 18 week old can give you to decide we were OK and then the smiles started, it's like the sun coming out, he's beautiful (yes, I'm biased!!!). The food parcel went down well with DD and I got to help with the bath in the evening, took him for a lovely long walk in the afternoon to give mum an hour to herself, fed him his strawberry goo which he loves, played a lot, chatted a lot , well said a goo and gee many times in response to him anyway, and generally helped out by making lunch, cuppas, holding baby while mum got on and had a super time. We'll go regularly if she'll be able to fit us in and do more of the same, she's doing OK but is narutally still very tired and pressed for time, babies are time consuming beings but worth it!!

Easy day today, going to the greengrocer at the local shopping centre as we need some fresh produce and then a quick pop into w8rose to see if they have any reductions worth having. Not looking forward to the predicted thunderstorms over night and tomorrow as the lurcha is terrified and so scared we can't reach him, it might be a very long night!!

Have a good one all, Lyn xxx.

    Hi everyone,

Judi, I'm sorry things are so hard with your mother. I was very lucky with both my parents as they were both very sharp mentally right to the end. I've been missing mum a lot this week.

Talking of mum, we need to make a decision very soon about the property, I need to draft an email to my brothers to see what they want to do - sell as is and potentially get less than we hoped but in a quicker time frame, or join up with a local builder and have a longer wait but probably greater rewards. I really don't mind what they decide but the second option would be a lot more work for the executors (me and next bro down).

I've got some sort of lurgy which came on suddenly yesterday afternoon. I went to bed at 8.00 last night and slept most of the time until 9.00 this morning. Still feel very fluey and have a mouth full of ulcers soI shall be taking it easy today - a good excuse to watch Murray/Nadal this afternoon. I've just realised, that's why I've been missing mum so much this week, she was a great tennis fan and used to watch all the obscure tournaments (mainly the women) and I'm constantly thinking how much she would be enjoying the tournament.

Mrs Lurcher, I'm glad you had such a lovely time, I hope you get to go as much as you want.

Hester, I've got some more fabric parcelled up for you, I'll send it as soon as I can get to the post office.

    Morning all,

I'm ok thanks, tempted to wallow in self pity... you know the sort of stuff like 'why does everyone I love treat me so bad?' but that's not really very helpful is it?

I have spoke to both of my daughters this morning, both are well. My eldest daughter is looking forward to the 12th of this month when she and her partner to to court to get Soldiers adoption finalized. My youngest daughter is busy with plans for the wedding. They haven't set the date yet but it will be May 2016.

Sitting here with a toner in my hair to try and get out the unwanted brassy tones in my hair. Ive got this feeling the grey in my hair is going to turn blue....hahaha watch this space...

MrsLurcherwalker glad to hear you had some quality time with the 'Zebra child'. Babies are such a blessing aren't they? My little Grandson melts my heart when he reaches up to be picked up. He buries himself in your chest too. Such a joy!

    Housework... Sod that!

    Onwards and forwards,
    have a great day all.
