Bought a car from an independent dealer yesterday, my first time as I usually buy privately, and they gave me the whole V5C without section 9 and I'm just wonder is that right, am I supposed to do send off parts 1-8, cause usually the previous owner would do that?

You're right - they should have filled it out with you - and given you the new keeper bit. It's then their responsibility to send it on to the DVLA. They'll need to sign it I think so you might need to go back if you can??0

It's signed by the previous owner and not the dealer so I think I may get away with sending it in myself I'm just a bit concerned that as section 9 is missing which is the part you complete when selling to a trader.
I guess I have no other choice.2007 Won Ipod 30GB Video Sold on ebay for £136.51

Ye that's right - the dealer would have bought the car from somebody or received it as a trade in.0

No need to be concerned. The previous owner would have sent that off to DVLA - as they should - when they passed the car to the trade.
Just chuck it in the post. The only difference between you doing that and the trader doing that is that he owes you the price of an envelope and stamp, and two minutes of your time...0 -
As above, it is only paperwork, but I'd be wondering what fly-by-night chancer of a dealer doesn't know how to handle such a simple matter?0

I did check up on the dealer before I went, had a look for negative reviews and looked at a company check type website to see how long they'd been trading.
I think perhaps it might have been cause the bloke was running the place by himself when I got there and had to deal with another customer but I thankfully got a very low pressure selling environment cause of that so if it's just a case of sending it in myself I can live with that.
Thanks folks.2007 Won Ipod 30GB Video Sold on ebay for £136.51

Even unsigned DVLA would probably accept it tbh.
Nothing to worry about though - I suppose at least you know it's been done.0
