Hi,
I have no idea what she can do here but is it possible to claim on her household insurance? I think she has an excess of 150 quid.
If so, she wouldn't be telling them it is broken and not usable, would she? I am not sure if most insurance policies cost for loss for things like this?
EE (who she has her contract with) said they only thing they could do is offer her a second contract for 13 a month and that'd get her a new phone, but over 2 years that's over 300 quid, so cheaper to do it via insurance if it is possible.
Thanks for help

You may find that her premiums could increase significantly.
One claim for accidental damage put my premium up by £130r
It might be worth doing a dummy quote to see what impact it would have.
Failing that by a new phone from somewhere like Argos and put her simcard in to thatFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
Is it actually covered? How can something you done have be broken and not usable?
If she goes that route what will she do when they ask for the phone?
Then they check with the servicve provider and see that phones not been used for how long?
£150 excess + increased premiums for upto 5 years. Cheaper to go and buy another phone?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Some home insurance policies do cover loss, damage of theft of property "outside the home", but this is usually an added extra. It rarely comes as standard - particularly with cheaper policies.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If claiming on your home insurance make sure you report it to the police.0

Check your home policy schedule to see if you have cover for items away from home.
If the phone has been lost then you would need this type of cover.
An isolated and relatively small claim may not affect your premium too much but if you have had other claims within the last 3 years then I might be be less inclined to claim.
You can do some dummy quotes to give you an idea of any increase of premium.0
