Hi
I keep getting idiots calling me from allover the place trying to sell me mobile contracts, and it is doing my head in!!!
They say "I am calling from Orange".... etc... They blatantly are not!
"you have triggered your loyalty bonus" is the usual one they use and then they want my name, postcode and password... As if I would give this out to someone who calls me out of the blue!!
If you ask for a number to call them back or an address, they get all funny with you, and start being rude.
I had one 5 mins ago and I just told them my name was "Ivor Biggun" and I live at "69 Letsby Avenue, Mars" and my password was C*CK and they were happy with that, so left it with them... would love to hear the phonecall when they call orange to see if they can switch my mobile to some rubbish contract and give them my personal details.....
Is anyone else getting annoyed with these kind of calls?
I had a late night on the beer Friday and got a call from some idiot at 7:45am Saturday morning - not impressed.
I have heard the Telephone Preference service mentioned but don't you have to pay for this?

Its as simple as completing this form, although it does take about 4 weeks to come into effect and even then it doesnt stop calls that come from outside the country-which is where i find the majority are from.

Next time they ring, when they ask for your details, simply say, but you must have them it is regarding my rewards\Orange\my number. So you MUST know who you are calling!:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
"Marleyboy you are a legend!"

Yes, but only after you've wasted as much of their time as possible by asking lots of questions about their phones, contracts, overseas calling, ....
It's a numbers game - enough mugs sign up to make it worthwhile. They'll stop when it costs them more than they can make.0 -

I quite agree. Keep them on the phone and ask the most banal questions. This makes it a community service to others as it prevents them from calling other people. Then make up a name address and card details when they want your details.:DThe man without a signature.0 -
If I am really really really bored I entertain these people with such lies and nonsense. Mid conversation I change accents and my voice.
Many years ago I used invite Mormons, scientologists and any other cult into my home if they were stupid enough to knock, so I can listen to them. I once a pair of these 'buy your place in heaven' religious types to come in and I then switched the tape recorder on.....it freaked them out.
I once wound up a pair of religious types so much that one said to me 'those are the words of the devil' and asked his friend to leave 'immediately'.
It used to wind the girlfriend up no end!0 -
But dangeroussports if you had told them that you were Dave Brooker in disguise then they would have fled long ago!:DThe man without a signature.0

hehe...
last year someone called my b/f about a contract phone. his mate was round at the time.
When my b/f picked up he explained that he would have to be quick as his father was only upstair and that my b/f would have to talk quitely. The
caller was talking about some phones then all off a sudden his mate started screaming at my b/f 'get off the f***ing phone, how many times have i told you not to talk to anyone but me. now get back under the f***ing stairs you ****' followed by some banging and furniture thrown around.
An hour later the caller rang again to see if my b/f was okay and if he needed the police. after reasuring the caller that it was okay but not to call again as his father would be really mad.
Strangely never got anymore calls from this company.0
