Who is wrong here?

Hi, I asked Barclaycard via thier messaging service to move my payment date back by three days to coincide with payday. They did this and i also asked for them to move the direct debit.

Ive logged into today to find the DD hasnt been setup, ive been charged both late and overlimit fees (the charge took me over my limit) and my min payment has moved from £200 to £400!

Am i in the wrong here to not check the DD was properly setup after the statement dates had changed? What chance do i have of getting the fees back and the payment changed to the original amount before they charged me?
Cheers

    I'd imagine you probably have a decent chance of them agreeing to remove the charges. I'd phone up and make the payment and then explain the situation and hopefully they will sort it out for you.

    Best wait until they call you back and explain, as I don't think you are correct.

    Typically barclaycard set their minimum payments as
    The highest of:
    1. 2.25% of the amount you owe us on your monthly statement;
    2. £5 (or the entire amount if less than £5);
    3. any interest, account fees and default charges that have been added to your account since your last statement plus 1% of the remaining balance.

    If you only make the minimum payment each month it will take you longer and cost you more to clear your balance.

    Whilst the specific percentages may vary depending on the card (refer to your terms/summary info), that's their basic policy

    its 2.25% of my balance.. i owe about 9k so £199 is correct (im interest free at the moment)

    Yesterday it created a new statement so its looking like its adding the two months up as ive not paid the first month as yet due to the DD failure

    If they think you've missed a payment then they may have removed the interest free deal too. Make sure you check and get that back if they have.

    Also, if you can get them to accept responsibility, ensure that they remove any consequent negative markers from your credit files.
