Can I buy a car and ask a carer to drive it for me where i need to go?

Just checking.

I was told I was unfit to drive because of my disabilities and I take medication which makes me drowsy.

Is it possible?

I would love to look into it as I live in a village and theres awkward places to get to.

Buying the car wouldn't be the problem.

It would be the insurance. Who would be classed as the main driver? It couldn't be you (could it?) as you are unfit to drive. Do the carer(s) change regularly?

Would it not be cheaper just to get a taxi when you're going out and about. Having a carer take you means you have to pay the cost of running the car and the carers hourly rate so a taxi might be cheaper.

Speaking as a carer for a disabled person who cannot drive themselves, the answer is YES! That the disabled person has a car registered in his name, even if at 4 Years old he is too young to drive, that I am his Dad is irrelevant to the fact I am his carer and registered driver of his car. ;)

    Thanks guys.

Would I need to pay the carer any extra for them to drive or is that included in the hourly rate?

You need to find a carer who can drive and who doesn't cost you a fortune to insure
