Jeweller lost my chain

Can someone please advice me. I gave my white gold snake chain to a large well known Jewellery company for a new clasp to be fitted.
They have contacted me today to inform me they have lost it. They have offered to replace the chain to its correct value however they do not sell any white gold snake chains which is what I want as it fits my pendant. I have told them this and asked to be compensated with cash so I can get the right type of chain however they are refusing stating I will have to choose a different one from them. Please help this cant be right the chain was a birthday present from my children.

One thing is for sure, they will be able to source one a lot cheaper than you will be able to buy retail. I would keep the pressure on them and threaten a letter before action if they are still being sticky..
In the meantime you need to find out how much a replacement would cost you.0 -
I would be inclined to see if you can find something similar online. You can then use that as leverage, as that would form evidence of what it would cost for you to replace.0

Have found 5 different prices for a like for like all of which are more expensive then they are willing to give me. Waiting for customer services to get back to me at present they are still refusing to compensate me with cash. All I want is the exact type of chain that I had.0

I cannot see how they cannot get you a like for like replacement, they will have sources where they can get you one exactly the same.
You can bet your bottom dollar, if you went in and asked if they could source a white gold snake chain for you, they would find one straight away.
Just keep plugging away at it.0 -
Keep banging away - ask to speak to the area manager, then regional manager, then to the top - basically keep plugging away there's no real way they can avoid sorting this out legitimately0

This just amazes me. A company loses a customers item, then only offers store credit as compensation.
You have to wonder if they could treat a customer with any more contempt if they tried.0 -
Perhaps a clue to their name might help readers of this thread to make up their minds as to whether they want to shop there in future.
