I find that in recent times, Panasonic products are nowhere near as good or reliable as they used to be.

Panasonic do not make this item any more - blu-ray recorder - model no DMR-BS750 and I know why. It is without doubt the worst Panasonic product I have ever bought, unless you count the 42" panel TV I bought a few years ago from Currys, which gave up the ghost after 3 months and which Currys were unable to repair after 2 attempts, so I swapped for a Pioneer, which is excellent.

The recorder is riddled with faults and it is clear that at least some of them were known to Panasonic before the item was put on the market. For example, you cannot display the TV guide properly if you leave the automatic time update facility on. The solution i.e. switch the facility off, is in the troubleshooting section of the owner's manual - thus Panasonic knew about the problem.

The guide disappears off the screen during use and you have to re-load it but of course it does it again.

The recorder does not record sometimes - the display continues to wink ad infinitum, instead of going solid which indicates it is recording.

It needs regular re-booting to deal with these problems - usually every day. Re-booting simply means unplugging the power for about 5 minutes and then re-connecting it. I have to pull out the recorder from the cabinet its in to do this.

it is extremely slow to respond to the remote - re-booting has no effect on this problem. Sometimes I have to press the button on the remote more than once to get it to work but this sometimes cancels out what I was trying to achieve! The controls on the recorder itself are also slow - thus it is the recorder which is slow to respond, rather than the controls, often taking many seconds to react.

I think my Panasonic buying days are over!

My Panasonic TX P42 TV is as good as the day I bought it in January 2010.
    It's someone else's fault.

Have to agree with dodger1. My Panny TV is brilliant. Also recently bought a Panny digital camera after my Olympus one gave up the ghost and perfectly happy with it's performance too.

Bought a Panasonic 32" TV and DMR-EX 78EB DVD Recorder five years ago, not a moments problem with either, bought a new Panasonic TV three months ago the only reason for replacing the old one was because we wanted a smart TV and bigger screen, very satisfied and pleased with the new one excellent picture in both HD and SD formats.

We have a Panasonic tv over 5 years old, microwave, the same and a camera almost as old and all excellent.

I did have a microwave that was faulty, but the time taken to replace it was the fault of Apollo and not Panasonic, who , after a complaint, delivered next day.

The last vacuum only lasted for two years, but that was because one of the dogs weed on it, causing rust (the motor was fine).

They do, however, make some inferior items so supermarkets can sell them cheaper. You can spot these as the model numbers are not widely available . I notice, on the Panasonic website, that a few tvs are available at PC World and Currys only, so wonder if these are 'downgrades'.

All of the TV and Hi Fi stuff in my house ( apart from a Bose wave system in bedroom) is Panasonic and never had an issue. The only thing was a 5 year old HDD/DVD recorder's fan broke, but was quickly fixed and back to me in 2 days.

    I love Panasonic !

I have to agree with BaldacchinoR. Panasonic products are rubbish these days. I've just posted concerning their 'fur coat no knickers' £120 broken down microwave on this forum.

My Panasonic is so reliable it is labelled 'National Panasonic'. Similarly I still wear a St Michael branded suit whereas any Autograph or Collezione ones are out of shape after two seasons.

So one faulty microwave makes all Panasonic products rubbish, I don't think so.:p
