2 months car insurance...

My current car insurance is due to end in about a weeks time.
I only need to extend this until the end of July, as I'm getting a company car mid-late July, with all insurance sorted through work.
I've just had the renewal quote through my current insurers through the post, which is obviously yearly. The monthly cost has dropped almost £20 a month so its a pretty good quote. (I always pay monthly).
My question is, what do I do about only needing 2 months insurance?? I know if I call them and request just 2 months the price will increase. I've looked online for temporary/short term insurance, and again the price shoots up.
The renewal letter states 'we will automatically renew your policy on your behalf, and once complete a link to your confirmation documents will be emailed to you'.
Could I carry on with this renewal quote, but not sign anything, and then cancel it towards end of July?? I'm sure I did something similar with my home insurance when I moved house, and they couldn't charge me to cancel it as I hadn't signed anything. Is this right??
Thanks

By continuing with the policy you accept the ts + cs.
(If you were involved in a claim one month after renewal you'd be unhappy if they rejected it saying you never "signed anything"!)0 -
If you continue to pay for it then you will deemed to have accepted the terms.
I have loads of things i have never signed for. Credit cards where i applied online, Car and home insurance again never signed anything.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Every car insurance company I have ever dealt with has had a cancellation fee. Also check for any other non-refundable fees like broker fees. I'd just check that they aren't too high. Also check a policy cancellation gives a pro-rata refund (not a reduced amount). If the cancellation fees are really high, might be worth looking at other providers and doing the maths.Indecision is the key to flexibility
