Mortgage app and Experian!

Can someone please help me, I am in a state of panic.
Long story short, we applied for mortgage in feb and got DIP nationwide and passed credit checks. We went in for full application a few weeks ago and it has been declined today.
I looked on my Experian and I had a very good score even though I had a default in 2009 (1,200 settled) and a few late payments from my struggling single mum days and I was not doing well at paying things on time. Those did not show on my Experian, only Noodle so great I thought!
My broker wanted an up to date copy of our files and low and behold there is lots of things including the default and late payments that were not there the last time I looked - end April!!
It now has 1 negative factor which is "account recently defaulted" it was not recent it was from 2009 but has just been put on now! WHY?
Why put it on now if they haven't done it years ago?
Sorry this probably does not make sense as I am just so upset just now!
Is there anything I can do?

Credit reports are not like a physical file that stays static or just has new things added to it. It's a set of linked records that are compiled every time you request a report.
That means that things that did not previously show because there was not enough information in your application or linked records to allow the CRA to match them to you, can show up on a later check if something in that app or other info has then caused a link to be made.
I've had a similar thing. Several old accounts not showing to me which should have been. Then a link was made and up they popped. The CRA had the records but did not initially have enough info to link them in to me.
If the records are genuine then nothing you can do.
A lender will make their own mind up on negative factors though, and either won't see or won't care what Experian's opinion or definition of 'recent' is, so I wouldn't be too concerned about that.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Your file will only be updated with information from other sources when a status enquiry is initiated.0
