Mira Vie shower water isn't as hot as it has been

We have a mira vie shower which has been working fine for the last 18 months we have been living in the house, however a couple of days ago when it was running the shower went cold.
I can get some warm water through the system if I turn the thermostat up to the hottest end. I've cleaned the internal filter and shower head but it's not improved.
Do you think it might be thermal cut-out assembly or the heater tank assembly? The water flow when I get hot water running is less than what it used to be but when it's cold it's the same as it was. For me this points it to be the heater tank assembly.

If it gets warm at all, then the chances are that one of the elements has blown. Most of the electric showers that I've used have a switch or buttons to select the heater setting, so there's two (or more) elements in the little canister. If one of them blows, it'll never get very hot.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
