How Stupid is Three?

On a contract with Three which has months to run, they want to charge me £15 admin to unlock my phone whilst I'm still in contract but at the end of the contract they will willingly do it for FREE!
Surely that doesn't make sense or is it just me?

I suppose whilst you have a contract with them, they will be making money from you anyway, but once you have a choice to switch to a new network, they will want to lure you back to stay with them. Not very good custmoer service though - can you try saying that you wanted to unlock this phone to see what it is like, and imply that you would be more likely to stay with them if they agree?
I wanted to switch to PAYG from a contract phone, and Orange were keen to make me re-register and therefore have a different number. After one unsatisfactory conversation, I called again and told them I was going abroad to study, but wanted to be able to use my phone when I came back in the holidays - no trouble switching as they knew I wouldn't bother spending any money with them otherwise! All you need is a story which makes them think they will be better off from helping you...0 -
By unlock do you mean the network unlocking code? In that case I can totally understand it. Once your contract has finished you have paid up and can move on but if you move off to another network now then I guess they lose revenue.Make £5 per day in August= £100/£155
Paid MS- £5+ £10 GR, £5 RE, £15 MS
£65 ebay profit
Waiting on payment- E160 BAI

I'm in contract for another 4 months and can't move on during this time without paying up in full anyway so why not let me unlock my phone now to avoid me going elsewhere when my contract expiresI haven't got one!0

I guess the queston they'd ask is "Why do you want it unlocked if you intend to stay with us?"Bought, not Brought0

Unlocking and a Vodafone NZ connection (SIM) pack cost the equivalent of 27 quid altogether. Upon registering it, I got NZ$10 credit.0
