Travel Insurance complaint question?

I have made a complaint to Virgin Money Travel Insurance on 20 May via email.
They haven't gone back to me since then even to acknowledge the receipt of my complaint.

Not sure if Travel Insurance is regulated in the same way as banks and therefore the same timescales would apply such as for banking complaints eg. 1 week to acknowledge the receipt of complaint?

    The FCA regulates insurance like any other financial product.

    As an aside, email is probably the worst possible format in which to send a complaint - it invariably goes into a massive 'In' pile for the call centre staff to slowly sift through. Snail mail is much more effective.

    They have 8 weeks to respond. If you don't like the response, or don't get one, you can then escalate to the FOS.

    Is there anything different (regarding 8 weeks) if they have not acknowledged the complaint?
